after playing around with it for quite some time i finally finished the studio compilation i have been working on. the live one is coming soon, probably in the next couple days . please give me your opinion.
I would have left "Cheeseburger In Paradise" and "Why Don't We Get Drunk........." off and put a couple other rarities on it. (Maybe "Treat Her Like A Lady" and "Lady I Can't Explain"), but the rest are DYNAMITE selections (ESPECIALLY "Far Side", and I'd also buy that one if it were available. GREAT work putting it together. Especially the photos.
Well done, and thanks. I'm now eagerly awaiting your live album.
Pardon my senior moment. Of COURSE "Treat Her Like A Lady" is on that.
Thanks again-it's an awesome set. That photo montague is super as well.
Any hints as to what will be on your live one?
Use your judgement, Ricky, because that studio one of yours is going to be hard to top. It's always fun hearing him live too.
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but I ~REALLY~ can't get over that fantastic group of photos you put together. If you don't do that for a living, you're in the wrong profession.
thanx wino! my fiance' said the same thing to me about doing that as some sort of a profession!
i may put updates of the live ones on here. first off ia m going to start with "Great Heart" from cincy. any suggestions would be great! ill update asap.
I listened to the Cincinnati C.D. yesterday, and commented to MY wife how great "Great Heart" is for an opening song. (or ANYWHERE on the set list).
I really don't know what I could suggest, because at a live concert I could listen to Jimmy go through the phone book.
I have a bootleg of the 2001 West Palm Beach concert in which he plays a TROMBONE solo on "Bob Robert's Society Band", and Tina does ONE HELL OF A VOCAL SOLO on the last verse of that song. If you want me to make a copy and mail it to you, let me know.
I also like "Morris' Nightmare" on the "You Had To Be There" C.D.
I don't know how that would blend in with the more recent stuff, because, obviously, his voice was different then. But whatever you decide, go for it.
out of curiosity wino, how good is the sound quality? yeah i am going to have a tough time blending the songs together. i went to www.download.com and or its www.downloads.com and got something called audacity which is an audio editor. so i am going to teach myself how to use that. thanks for the offer on the show, i just may take you up on that.
I'm assuming you meant the sound quality on "Bob Robert's Society Band" from West Palm Beach, because I'm ALSO assuming you HAVE "You Had To Be There." If that's the case, the sound quality isn't superb, but I'd definately give it an "excellent."
If you need me to make you a copy, don't hesitate to ask.
i NEVER use someone else's hard work without asking so do you mind if i use your picture set up for a couple of live disc's i have that are coverless at this time. i also want to add my kudo's for your great job!!!!!!
i'd rather die while i'm living than live when i'm dead
what would be a good idea as far as song selections for the live compilation. 2cd live compilation.
any rare covers he pulls out of the hat. face it we have all heard "those songs he has to play" done just about every way possible but it;s the rare nuggets he throws in every one in awhile.
suggestion, lawyers, guns and money and you can't always get what you want from the millinium show would be a couple of winners.
i'd rather die while i'm living than live when i'm dead
Great job on song selection and an excellent job on your photos. I'm sure each of us would pick different tunes for our own collections but most of your selections hit pretty close to home.
As for the ebay thing, I would NEVER buy music that is commercially available from there. Some may argue that Buffett is a multimillionaire that doesn't need the money but I'm a firm believer in the original artist reaping the profits of their work, not the rip-off artists that prowl ebay.
