Good call...

Post by cartmill72 »

MermaidInOhio made a good call with the Lazy Chameleon. That's the best Buffett-esque hangout in central Ohio.

I second that notion that it's worth the drive.
My birthday is the day before the show so I don't know if I will be going out in Lexington or driving up to Columbus to party.

An early Happy Birthday KY, my birthday is the day after the concert. My son is a UK student so GO CATS in the NCAA.

Thanks, Its sorta putting a kink in my plans, normally I would party hard on my birthday and the concert but I am scared of ending up super hung over for the show. Heck it was a little rough last week after we took my roomate out on his birthday. I managed to roll out of bed at noon thirty but he did not leave his bed until 6:30 pm. I figure he is going to want some revenge on my birthday :o Jaegerbombs are evil yet sooooo tasty.

I guess the only choice is to not get sober, I'll take the hangover on Monday

I am hoping the Cats can take it all this year. I have yet to make it to the huge block party on campus that happens after we win. GO CATS!!!
A couple of recommendations (let me first say that I would suggest find bars/hangouts other than the campus bars. My #1 recommendation would be this place: http://www.lazychameleon.com/
It's about 20 minutes from where most people are staying.......great atmosphere, not a bunch of underage kids, and sometimes there's live music. Worth the drive.

Another good place is Adobe Gila's at Easton Town Center:

Twenty different kinds of tequila!!! Need I say more? (but i will anyhow - Chris Logsdon is usually there on Friday nights, and chances are if you're coming to Columbus to see JB at the Schott, you'll like Chris Logsdon's music as well.)

I mentioned a couple other bars in another post - Estrada (which IS a campus bar....it's on 9th or 10th ave if my memory serves me right) and El Vacquero on Olentangy River Road.

Hope this helps. If you need any other suggestions or info from a "local" (or former local, in my case :wench: ), let me know.......

~Jess
I have to agree completely with Jess! Chris Logsdon is a good friend and all Buffett fans will definitely love his show at Adobe Gila's. (He played at the preparty inside the Schott in 2001 for anyone who was there). It gets CRAZY at Adobe! Dance on a table or two for me! :wench: Plus Adobe Gila's is part of Easton, which in itself is worth the trip! I guarantee you'll be impressed!

And the Lazy Chameleon has a great Buffett like atmosphere. In the past, they've done a Buffett preparty (when he played at Polaris), so they might be doing something again this year.
