Confirmed Dallas Date

Saw this on Margaritaville

Saturday, May 29
Dallas, TX
On Sale March 27 Texas Stadium
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body; but rather to skid in PortSide, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming,
'What a lovely cruise!'

Does anyone want to speculate on whether or not this will be the only Texas show? I am still waiting to see about Houston. I don't want to buy tickets on March 27, 2004 and then find out that Jimmy is coming to Houston. Any thoughts? :o

I dont mean to sound like I am "scolding" however we need to remember that Jimmy does not NEED to tour......I am sure that he enjoys it or he would not still be doing it, however you have to give him a break, he has a family, and I am sure that he would like to spend time with them as well as do other creative things. I hear people complaining that he is not "writing" his songs, but then they want him touring all the time in every city.....we have to remember he is just a man, no matter how much we all dont want to think of him in that way, and if we keep complaining he may just decide to stop the touring......we have to be thankful that we have an opportunity to see him in some venue someplace......so, take a roadtrip and be happy!!!

If I were Jimmy Buffett (oh' to dream), I would want my fans to be mad and disappointed that I was not touring in their city (as distinguished from people not giving a damn if I show up or not). All of this is done with a certain sense of humor. No one is threatening a boycott. To the contrary, we are all trying to figure out a way to take a road trip. If coming to Houston hurts Jimmy and his family, then I hope he stays home. However, we would welcome not only Jimmy but his entire family in the friendly city of Houston. :D

I don't think the 'cheap' tickets will be $125, I think the VIP/premium ones will cost that much.

Given the capacity of a stadium, Jimmy, Alan, and George can charge something like $40, $60, $80, and $125 depending on location and still make as much each as though they played an arena/shed show.

Let's see if this turns out to be true.

Texas is a HUGE state - much larger than PA so if we don't get a concert in the state we really have to travel to go see him. Shoot it takes a day to drive accross Texas. Not everyone can afford to fly to another state. AND if you just take a look at where the confirmed concerts are. None near here at all. Then when it looks like he's playing a show in one of the worst possible venues in the entire state and then if the rumors pan out that the cheepest seat is going to be $ 125.00 we feel we have a lot to be angry about as it appears he has sold out his fan base here. I bet if he chose to not play anywhere in New England or the Northeast you would complain too.

Our 4 year old has been dying to go to his first "boat party" as he calls it. At $125+ I think we'll pass on taking him this year. We'll be there early with the boat though. Anyone know how RV parking works at Texas Stadium?

Well, I guess the way my post was taken was the wrong way.....all I was trying to say was I am happy that he is playing anywhere.....and if he would not be playing close to where I live (which I travel about 4 hours to my nearest concert) I would travel further or I would just listen to it on RM. I love Jimmy and consider myself a huge Parrothead....I just dont want to see people getting upset......sorry if I upset anyone...just what I was trying to avoid :)

I don't think that you upset anyone. But if one or two did take it the wrong way. Not much you can do, we are human.

For me I always have to travel to a differant state. Jimmy never plays New Mexico.. That's just the way it is.

If I were anywhere near Texas, I would be there!
Of course, I am also a fan of both George & AJ. I would certainly pay that amount to see George & Jimmy sing Stars on the Water together!!!
I hope that the concert is recorded & stuck on a DVD somewhere! I will buy it for sure!!!

Amen! I am just glad to be able to drive to a Jimmy show. Flying is such a hassle and adds to the expense.

I was just looking at flying to Indianapolis and driving to Alpine and back to Indy. Atlanta looks like it is a NO go since I want to go to Dallas.

I am too just thankful Jimmy is out there touring as much as he wants to!

I am in Texas and not as near as it may seem. At least a 6 hour+ trip to Dallas for me. Oh my gosh, then the driving when you get there...:) It's the big city for this small town girl.

I'm right there with you jrmint. I live in Alabama and I don't think he'll be scheduling anything here either :P :P We have no choice, but take a road trip. With the right companion it can rival the concert.... :o :o

I hear that! You know I'll be there.

I gotta say, tailgating is going to be a nightmare. Texas Stadium did not, until a few years ago, permit tailgating. Dallas Cowboys fans, led by Jerry Jones, (thankfully) got that changed. All I know is, try like hell to get a Blue Lot pass.
