Was it your face or your plastic a**?finzz2dlft wrote:I never met him, but I *did* get to be in the "video" that they show of the tailgating festivities. This was at Meriweather Post, back in 2000. It was kinda neat to see my face up on the big screen, next to JB as he played "We are the People"
Did anyone ever meet Jimmy?

The year that he took the Hemisphere Dancer with him ... was it the Beach House Tour? Can't quite recall. Anyway ... he stopped by the Sportspage in Mt View a couple of hours before showtime. Hung out and drank a Corona. Everyone was very cool about it, and left him alone. He was obviously enjoying the fact that he was able to relax and not be mobbed ... just enjoyed PH craziness .. strolled around a bit, and smiled a lot. I stood beside him for about five minutes .. tried to be cool and not say anything to him ... just enjoyed it!
AND ... he was smoking!!!

JB smoking suprises me...at least him smoking at this phase in his life, certainly smoking when he was younger wouldnt suprise me. Was he smoking a cigar or cigarette. In A Pirate Looks at Fifty he says Tobacco companies are the smartest companies because they can sell poison.

I remember seeing a picture of him sitting outside Shrimpboat Sound Studio with Mr. Utley. They were both sitting in chairs and it looked like their was a pack of Marlboro Lights sitting on the arm of J.B.'s chair, and it appeared he had a cigarette in his hand. This was while he was recording BHOTM. I think it was in the Margaritaville site, but those pics are now gone. Did the BHOTM cd have pics on it? At any rate-I was surprised to see Buffett smoking too. I figured he would have quit that along with drugs. But then again-their is that Bank Of Bad Habits to dip into. And I can't quite fault him for it since I do it too. I just don't really see him as a smoker. But then again I don't really know him, or hang out with him, and their for cannnot judge him. But I can judge his music, and his concerts, and I love them both!!parrotheadmike wrote:JB smoking suprises me...at least him smoking at this phase in his life, certainly smoking when he was younger wouldnt suprise me. He comes in quite a bit into KX44, Miami seaplane base Watson Island. I've gotten to meet him quite a few times. A former co-worker of mine now works up the road at Air Marg. and called the other day. Jimmy wanted to come down and catch a Heat game at the AA Arena.
I've never seen him smoke the last couple of years, might have been one of those drinking moments...who knows.
