Did anyone ever meet Jimmy?

I've been wondering that after seeing all the posts about him from people who seems to know an awful lot about him. So did anyone ever meet him and was he cordial, polite, rude, an ordinary guy? Seems he could be a mixed bag of things depending on when or where you would run into him. This is just for my own curiosity sake. I would hope that he would be the devil may care, party guy who would sit down and chew the fat with you for awhile. I just want to know what to expect if that time ever comes. :P

I spent 5 hours with him on the gateway golf course in Ft Myers. he was in town to play a benefit concert. Got a couple photos with him and got him to sign a pic of my flats skiff named "Lil Miss Magic". My little baby girl was in the pic also so we spent the next several hours talking fishing and daughters.

My baby is 13 yrs old now so this was quite awhile ago.

I had the pleasure of meeting him at the Margaritaville in Orlando last year the night between the Tampa and Orlando shows. He was very nice, shook my hand, and we talked for a few seconds. He was pretty bombed but very cordial.

I met JB one time, it actually is a very long story how it all occured. It was about 2 years ago and I had just turned 40. I was really feeling the blues at that time and I got a little bit depressed because I was 40 years old and I was kinda of a pathetic loser who has not accompished any thing. During this whole ordeal I had lost a fair bit of weight because I was not eaten my regular 12,000 calorie per day diet.I decided to turn my frown upside down and I decided to take myself and mom plus dad to my favorite happy place The Walt Disney World resort in Orlando.Any how well at Disney I wanted to try out the parasailing at the Sammy Duvall water sports school at Disney's Contempary resort. I took the course and off I went to go parasailing. Before I went I slamed on my lucky pink Speedo to wear up in the air, well remember how I said I lost a fair amount of weight, it just so happend that my pink Speedo was a little to big for myself and the first gust of air up 120 feet made my Speedo fly right off. I have to admit it was a great feeling parasailing in the buff, but I kinda felt a little bit embarased when I had to come down. There was a nice young family who took the course with me and when they saw me naked I think that I ruined their trip.( The young kids started to cry and every thing ) Any how my pink Speedo flew on to one of those boats that take the guests to the Magic Kingdom. Lucky for me every time I go some where mom rights my name and were we are staying at on the tags of my Speedo's.When I got back to my room about 5 minutes later there was a knock on the door and it was Buffett. It turned out that my pink Speedo landed on Bubba's head on the boat. I thanked him over and over again for returning my favorite Speedo and he was very cool and nice. He also mentioned how it was quite the site seeing me parasail in the buff. I even got him to autograph my pink Speedo and now I have it framed in my room at Mom and Dads house.

I have been a JB fan for many years but I never ever could imagine ever meeting him like this. I guess stranger things have happend though.

I didn't get to talk with him...but I got a high five at Nissan about 5 years ago...that was enought of a thirll for me!!! I so didn't want to wash my hand!

My friend ran...or should I say Jimmy ran into him (literally) in the airport in Miami...(he says he sees him there pretty regularly). Jimmy stopped to apologize and chat a bit. He explained he was having a rough time rounding up the kids for a bit of vacation, hence, him not looking where he was going.

Do any of you guys think that maybe Jimmy might write a song about this experience on License To Chill. Can any of you come up with what the lyrics might be?

I think the song would most likely be called "Pink Speedo Torpedo", and it would kinda sound like "Jamaica Mistake."

I never met him, but I *did* get to be in the "video" that they show of the tailgating festivities. This was at Meriweather Post, back in 2000. It was kinda neat to see my face up on the big screen, next to JB as he played "We are the People"

I cannot believe how few of the many Parrotheads on this site have never met JB.

Well, considering he doesn't hang out in the parking lot before the show... I'd say the percentage is about normal for any celebrity. Generally speaking it's not safe for him to be out and about amongst too big a crowd...
