Buffett over RUSH... Splitting up the family!!!

Hi everyone,

Amusing story that everyone should enjoy...

My brother called last night (we're both in our upper 30's) and he said, "Kurt, which Rush show do you want to this year?" ...We have attended Rush shows every time they come around. Yes, Rush was my favorite band for a number of years but as I got older I just liked Jimmy better. No deep lyrics, no complicated time changes... (I hope I'm talking to an audience that knows what I'm talking about// Life's too serious these days!!!) Anyway, my wife and I budgeted for two Buffett shows this year - one in Charlotte - ALREADY GOT TICKETS!!! and (hopefully) one in Jersey. Don't get me wrong// if I budgeted for one show I would have gone to keep the tradition going but I just can afford three concerts in three separate cities. To make this already long story short, he could not believe it!!! He obviously is not a fan. He started bad mouthing Jimmy and I just had to laugh! Reminds me of my teen days where I would argue with him about who played better guitar - you know, the REALLY important stuff!

Ahhh, sibling rivalry... hope to meet up with a few of you at both shows well, at least definitely in Charlotte! :pirate:

Thanks SMLCHNG for the link.

I feel for you. I haven't missed a Rush tour since high school (I'm 35 now). Try to find a way to go. My guess is Jimmy will be touring long after the boys call it a day. After reading Neil's book and all he's been through the last few years, I think they are touring to get finances in order.

I had 3rd row center for Rush last time they came through! It was my first time I had ever seen them (liked them for years) and it was AWESOME!

I'm just happy to see you have your priorities straight kurt!

Most families have a sensible one and one... well... not so sensible! :D

Yes, this is true. I just hope he does not want to compromise and say, Okay, then Geddy and Jimmy can share the stage."

What the heck would THAT sound like?!!

Yeah, I was all set to see what JB said about Limbaugh that made them split up! Like JB & Limbaugh would ever be a team, right! Guess when it comes to Rush, I DON'T get it!

My husband is a HUGE Rush fan--we have a deal worked out. If he gets to go to a Rush show, then I get to go to a JB show. This year, we've already got our tickets to see JB in Charlotte, and Sat. he'll be buying tickets to see Rush in Charlotte. So everyone is happy (but broke). 8) :D

I've seen Rush and Buffett. I liked Rush as a teenager. Now its a little to Star-Trekky for me.

Can you imagine Geddy Lee getting up onstage with JB and singing
“Cheeseburger in Paradise”???

Like you guys Rush is one of my favorite bands. Actually, I have three favorite artists. Rush, Jimmy and Sammy (Hagar that is). Not in that order, just depends what kind of mood I'm in. I plan on seeing Rush in the Burgh or May 31. I haven't missed Rush in Pittburgh since 1990. By far the most talented of my favorite artists (musically).

Add me to the list. I've seen Rush over thirty times, and Jimmy over twenty. Coming up, I will have a whirlwind three-week period:

5/22 Jimmy in Columbus
6/2 Rush in Cleveland
6/10 Rush in Columbus

Oddly enough i read this post yesterday and was thinking how I would love to see both Rush and Buffett this year. Well no Buffett in Nashville is scheduled yet but Rush is, my wife and i were discussing going to see Rush since i've never seen them and she has but we were'nt sure and were going to wait to get tickets. On the way home yesterday they ran a giveaway on the radio for Rush tickets and I got lucky and won so i guess that solves half my dilema...now if Jimmy will just schedule a Nashville show i'll be set.
