RIP Great Woods/Tweeter Center

Post by LongIslandPhan »

A sad day for anyone in the northeast for sure... A HIGHLY reliable source has confirmed the BUBBA will not make the trip to Great Woods this year. Jones Beach will be announced within the next 2 days.

Jones Beach is one of the most senic places to see a show(I KNOW THIS b/c I live 10 miles away from it)...BUT HERE ME NOW.... The parking lot is aweful at best. It is a State Park and State Beach Police keep EVERYTHING in line... Even The PHans for the show Just dont get it.... Not to mention September on LI can be great or it can be RAIN or cold..

My only hope is that the PHans who get to this show know songs other then Marg. and Fins.....

Yesterday is over my shoulder...so I cant look back for to long...There is just to much to see waiting in front of me and I know I just cant do no wrong!

The last Buffett show I saw at Jones I got a $20 ticket (for drinking) that I never paid, about ten years ago...I wonder if there is a warrant out for my arrest? You are right the fans there don't "get it." I went to the benefit show Jimmy did last year at South Hampton and the fans there were different too...nothing like the Great Woods lots.

As for the Jones Beach crowd not "getting it," I think it might be a little different mix of people, considering that the Great Woods tailgating ain't gonna happen this year. I figure there will be some people who just won't be into JB's Fenway dates, and will make the trip down from MA to LI.

We'll see.

Not that I would bet my life on it but I am close to certain Boston will not be skipped this year. If Fenway says NO and Great Woods is not available I would think he would either look to the Fleet Center or Gillette Stadium. He will be back at Great woods next year for Labor Day weekend, playing at Fenway is a once in a lifetime chance which is why he opting out of Great Woods this year, I don't think the Golf Tournement has anything to do with it. One would think Great Woods makes more money having Buffett there for 2 days than they do using the lot for parking for those same 2 days.

The 26th Works FOR ME!!!! Could even do Aerosmith there on the 24th and just make it one long run!!!! Dont get me wrong about Fenway..I totally understand is reasons...Its just that a Bubba show aint a Bubba show if you have no place to REALLY do a Tailgate.

I am from NY and have seen him in The Garden (MSG) for his 9/11 tribute show and it was good and all but...ITS STILL IN A CITY and Bars just cant make it the same way a parking lot does... I MEAN where am I gonna put my 300gal Pool...at Jillians???

Anyway..ALPINE may be my choice.... if JUNE 26th at GW does not work =)

Keep this rolling!!!

Never been to Great Woods but I'll take Jones Beach over Camden anyday. Less glass and garbage in the lot. Only one restroom, but way better then the Johnny On the Spots in Camden. I've never witnessed the State Police giving anyone a hard time. Maybe if your a threat to others safety. Which in Camden there is a higher theat. Walking back from the venue to the lot is like walking with wolves in heat. The only stress from Jones Beach for me is the Belt Parkway.

Well...we DON'T ALL agree...I think the PHans at Jones Beach are very much into JB...just differently than the crowd at GW.

Fenway

Post by jellocannoncrew »

Fenway or Great Woods? I would much rather go to Great Woods anyday over Fenway. I understand the whole "experience" of him wanting to play Fenway but I hope its only a one time thing. My "favorite" Uncle owns one of those private box-seats with the glass room things at Fenway. He told me that when Bruce played there last year they, the owners, were given first shot at the tix. So, I "may" have the opportunity to have good (?) seats with probably gauranteed tix but I would give up both shows' at Fenway for one show at Great Woods! I just don't think that you could ask for a better all-around venue for a JB Concert!! So we'll have to wait until the 22nd to see what happens.

Either way,we get to see "our leader"!

In my humble opinion...I love Jones Beach...I have been to about 8 shows there since '87 and have enjoyed every one. I am also looking forward to the change of pace and I'm interested in what Fenway will be like.
I think what is most important for me is the people I am there with...all I keep hearing is everyone bitching about a venue. Make the best of where ever you are!! The party begins with the people you choose to spend time with...no matter what parking lot your are standing in! I think it is pretty sad that people seem to think a show will s*** just solely because of a particular venue.
If you have such bad feelings about a place...just stay home and hope for better luck next year. Or, you could plan a kick ass party with some of the best people in the world and make the best of the day!
