Kitty no disrespect, but I think this Yankee and this Red Sox team for that matter show a lot of class. You do not hear of players from either team being busted for domestic violence, or drugs, or any other crime of the sort that seems to be ever-present in professional sports.
You are right...I am impressed by the character of the players from both teams off the filed.....I was just referring to the lack of class on the field...I know I am idealistic...but with Arods cheating move and Matsui knowing it was a homer and acting stupid...that bugs me.
(I know..I live in a fantasy world if I think a player would step up and admit to something that was against his team)

Do you have an instance where the Red Sox stepped up and Said "No ump, that was not a ball, that was a strike"?

No offense taken. I should be used to this after being a Cub fan for over 40 years.
But hey-feel free to send her a card of congratulations and bottle of champagne if she should become
suddenly single.
she'll try to ADOPT you for that
Now that is something I just cannot fathom... how do you get to be a Cub and Yankee fan? That's like trying to have the best of both worlds. You get to be a Yankee fan... a perennial winner with dozens of championships. And you get to be a Cub fan... despite their abysmal history of losing, they are so loveable. That's not right man... it's one or the other... the evil empire or the northsiders... you can't be both

UNCONVENTIONAL is my middle name.
I became a Yankee fan in that fantastic year of 1961 at age 9. Roger Maris made me a Yankee fan after watching the way he handled the a-holes in the press and fans all over M.L.B. who wanted him to fail
SO badly. That guy personified what a professional athlete is all about, and a first-class gentleman on AND OFF the field. He became my all-time favorite baseball player, and remains so to this day. I usually go to Chicago every year when the Yankees play the White Sox.
I became a Cub fan in 1965 when my father took me to Wrigley Field for the first time. You just can't help but fall in love with that place. I go to about 5-6 games a year there. I was able to go to that 3-game series when the Yankees were in town a year ago June, and a friend who lives in Chi-town PROMISES me he can get me tickets for the three game series when the Red Sox come to town June 10-12, 2005.
A friend once asked me who I'd cheer for if the Cubs and Yankees ever met in the World Series.
I don't think I'll ever have to make THAT decision.

I really cannot think of anything lovable about the Cubs.
Still thinking.............................................

I just figured with all of the weight and pressure he put on it, it should of been oozing more........ I don't know if I buy it, but just an observation....

No, No...that would be a Yankee tactic...not one we would rely on!

Like Rodriguez and that little girly slap to knock the ball out of Arroyo's glove.

That is different...balls and strikes are a judgement call and should not be questioned...even little leaguers know that...but cheating is different!

The funny thing about cheating is that opposing fans are always outraged at a borderline play, and the hometown fans do not see it as a problem.
Kind of like the A-Rod, Pedro incident in game 5. Maybe Pedro threw at him on purpose, maybe not. Unless you are personally in Pedro's head, you will never know.
The A-rod play last night looked bad. But maybe he was not swatting at the ball it only appears that he did. We do not know that.

That should be the real question, right? Go back 10 pages, see if there is ANY mention of the Cards/Astros.

sorry, I have to go with what I saw...couldn't be any more obvious that tape reply over 10 times...then to act like he was shocked about the call???
And to comment on Pedro...I do not argue that he is dirty at times and throws at people...but to put Arod on base...with one already on and Shefiled coming up...thats pretty stupid!

A-Rod wrote:I know that line belongs to me and he was coming at me," he said. "Once I reached out and tried to knock the ball, the call went against me. I should have just run over him.

I was in a meeting, not avoiding. You guys haven't done s*** yet! That's what you get when you have a 3 game cushion.
Save it for tomorrow.

Kind of what I am saying. From a Sox fans perspective you can validate what Pedro did.

did he really say that? If so, he gets the oscar for best actor in a drama!

Another quote from Rodriguez:
"It was a big momentum changer," Rodriguez said. "I don't want those umpires to meet anymore because every time they meet, it goes against the Yankees."
Must be a conspiracy against George Steinbrenner and the Yankees.

Or maybe the calls went against the Yankees because they should have.

I just wish they showed instant replys in the stadium...that would shut a few people up!

No, I didn't validate it at all...I simply said it would not be a good stratigic baseball move in that situation...just makes me question if it was intentional.
