"If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher

Sonny's playin' 8-ball at the joint where Sherry works
When some drunken outta towner put his hand up Sherry's skirt
Sonny took his pool cue laid the drunk out on the floor
Stuffed a dollar in her tip jar and walked on out the door
Hank Hill : Just in case I'm incapacitated for some reason, do you know how to start a man's heart with a downed power line?

Bobby: No.

Hank : Well, there's really no wrong way to do it.

Robert Earl Keen "The Road Goes On Forever"

Jesus cried, wept and died
I guess he went up to heaven
I've been downtown such a long, long time
I'll never make it home by seven

Robert Earl Keen...The Road goes on forever...

Heard this in the car on the way home today..

How can I put into words what I feel?
My life was complete, I thought I was whole
Why do I feel like I'm losing control?
Never knew that love could feel like this,
and you changed my world with just one kiss.

Had to Google -- sorry.

Vince Gill - Let's Make Sure We Kiss Goodbye

not country . . .

I knew this kid named Max
He used to get fat stacks out on the corner with drugs
He liked to hang out late at night
Liked to get s*** faced
And keep pace with thugs
Until late one night there was a big gun fight
Max lost his head
He pulled out his chrome .45
Talked some s***
And wound up dead

Let's hope so...I heard this in the car and forgot how much I love this song...

I am not in love
But I'm open to persuasion
East or West
Where's the best
For romancing?

With a friend
I can smile
But with a lover
I could hold my head back
I could really laugh
Really laugh

Hey Connie!

Sorry I didn't make it back to play last night, but we ended up staying much longer at the housewarming than we planned!

That would be the fantastic Ms. JOAN ARMATRADING whose every CD I own, and the song is Love and Affection. I love how the radio can be on and you hear those first notes and -- pow! -- it's like a hand on your heart, squeezing . . .Image

I hold you in my arms
There's a band playing
What are those words whispered, baby
Just as you turn away?

Well I saw you last night
Out on the edge of town
I wanna read your mind and know just what I got in this
New thing I found

So tell me what I see
When I look into your eyes

Wow...The Boss...Brilliant Disguise...(and I have all of Joan Armatrading's CD's too...a friend of mine, Rhonda, made a tape of "The Weakness in Me" playing 16 times and would just play it over and over... 8)

Soon it will be time to go
I don't want to leave I guess you know
maybe something new will come up
and I can come home
for just a few more days

Pure Prairie League - Two Lane Highway (think I played the grooves off the vinyl with this whole album, Connie!)

You know I need your love
You've got that hold over me
Long as I've got your love
You know that I'll never leave
When I wanted you to share my life
I had no doubt in my mind

I was lost within the darkness of the valley of my heart
You took me for a ride and lit me up inside and healed my broken parts
Now you've got me believin' that the world could soon be mine
Yeah you got me believin' that for me you'd walk the line

Turn Me On - Cowboy Mouth

OK, how about an easier one:

Tryin' to talk double talk
Get myself in trouble talk
Catchin' myself in lies
Catch myself in lies
Mama just looked at me as if I was crazy
She didn't even bat an eyelid
So I began to try to explain
That it just wasn't, just wasn't what ya thought
I better find somethin' to do with my time
The fact is, I just been caught
