My Distaste For Ticketmaster and Greedy People!

Post by CheeseHead in Paradise! »

***This mesaage has been deleted due to it's negative nature. In reading the responses to this thread, I now realize that my anger was misdirected. I still have issues with the method in which tickets are distributed. My issue really is with Ticketmaster and the people currently on ebay advertising tickets for $799/pair. I apologize to all phans here on this board. I regret any hard feelings!***

At the risk of stating the obvious, since each person can only use one ticket, is it possible that the person is merely looking to find tickets for THEIR friends?

Not sure that qualifies as greedy...

There will never be a way to dole out 30,000 tickets to 100,000 people without a bunch of folks getting mad.

If that were true, how do you explain the multitude of tickets on ebay and in parking lots each year? Don't tell me everyone is buying tickets for their eight closest friends, I just don't buy it! There should be a four ticket limit, period. This would ensure more ticket distribution and a lot less ticket scalping!

One year my group of friends purchased 128 tickets for our friends and our friends' friends.

And a limit isn't going to limit scalping. Refer to any of the 20 threads on brokers for an education on how the business really works.

Cheesehead, that's not really fair at all. Your'e drawing conclusions without all the info. I AM going to Camden with 13 people, and we work as a team to get tickets for everyone. I am sorry if didn't get tickets, but do you really need to attack people who got tix for some of their group but not all?

You sound really smug! How many tickets was your group able to secure? 128? Pathetic!

While getting my Alpine Tickets on line I got my 4 and my wife also pulled up 4. We were going to get the best of both but unfortunatly all 8 were lawn. I could hve purchased 8 and sold the other 4 for a premium on Ebay, to a broker, or to a fan, but instead I just let them go back in the pool for another Parrothead to get. That is not being greedy and I see the meaning behind the post. If somebody can get additional tickets for cost then turn a nice profit off of them how is that just to the original purchaser?

I wish we could have these discussions without sniping at each other!

Some of us legitimately are trying to get just a couple of tickets, and while I do know how to work the system, and have often been successful, some of us do not have the option of getting lots of people to stand in line or get on the computer in a Saturday morning. My friends, for example are scattered throughout the country and all caught up in their own lives and the lives of their kids, or are at a job that requires them to work on Saturday mornings.

I tried yesterday, as did a couple of my friends that were with me, but we never stood a chance. And because I go to this particular Ticketmaster outlet for other concerts, I know that at least half (and probably more) of the people there were being paid off by brokers just so they could participate in the lottery.

i don't begrudge a KLL for getting so many tickets-I just wish I could have gotten our 3.

Note to self:

Shane,

Next time you attempt to get tickets and are unable to, instead of just sucking it up and finding another source for tickets, go on the board and b**** and whine about it to everyone that will listen. It will do you no good at all and will just p!ss everyone off, but do it anyway because it will make you feel better!

Cheesehead,
My wife and I walked through knee-deep snow to stand in line and bought 8 each for Charlotte. Considering she is GIVING 6 of those to her boss, boss's husband, boss's grandson, and a couple close friends who could not be in line, I would say that was far from being greedy.
If you are wondering who the other 10 are for, yes, we do have 8 friends who also work/have kids/have their own lives/could not stand in line/could not be at a computer. We are parrot heads, we help each other out.
If, by chance, some of our friends back out, you will see our extra tickets on the ticket exchange here at BN for cost (and since we went to the venue, there are no TM charges) not on eBay. A couple years ago I went to the show with extra tickets. I made sure that I sold them to people who were going in, not going to resell. Once again, not for a profit.
Does that sound greedy to you?

LMMFAO!!!!

What a waste man!!! I can't believe you did that! I got 35 tickets myself and I don't really feel like going to the show so I made decorative mini-blinds out of them for my Hampster!

I agree with nycparotthead. Yes, it sucks not to get tickets-been there, done that. Learn to deal with it. Find other ways to get tickets. There are more serious problems in this world. Get over it!

I have just erased my response to Cheeseheads attacks...it really wasn't even worth my time to reply...as it seems he/she is just a bitter person who probably wouldn't need to buy more than one ticket, unlike the rest of us that try for as many as possible so that our friends will be assured a seat at the show....sad that some people feel the need to attack other when things don't go their way.

8 here. . . .

Post by MidwestPhish »

I bought 8. . . for friends and family. . and I'm still looking for 8 to 10 more myself. . I don't think i'm greedy for wanting all my firends and family to join me for a Buffett concert. . .

Cheesehead. . you frustration is felt by all of us, we all hate scalpers, but your anger is being placed on the wrong people. You have no idea why they want four more tickets. . .

WOW CH!!! :o

I tried and ended up with 40 tickets...needed 8 people trying to get them, however we only needed 20.....Therefore, I will sell them RIGHT HERE on BN so that deserving Parrotheads get their chance to see Bubba! Was this greed?? I don't think so, it was called CYA.....I have never had any problem finding tickets for the show at face value plus fees....even the day they sold out..... :-?

CH,

We were able to get 24 tickets for the Saturday Chicago show. We have 24 people going. We are not selling any of the tickets. We had 3 people online right at 10 am and got our tickets before they sold out. I don't feel bad or greedy at all. Last year, we had to buy through a broker so I have been on both sides of the fence. I hope someday we end up with 128 people and can get tickets for all of them.
