Buffett for President

Post by suvid »

I'm inspired by listening to the introduction to "Last Mango In Paris" on the Feeding Frenzy album, where Jimmy tells the crowd, "We got fed up with the other alternatives to politicians and elected our favorite bartender mayor." What do you think Buffett would do in his first 100 days in the White House? We could have one awesome tailgate party on the front lawn and then move over for a concert at the Capitol. Ah well, here's to wishful thinking.

According to Jimmy himself from Merriweather last summer:

"I don't think I could pass the drug test. But if I were president, I'd reinstate drive in theatres in America. And I'd make Marti Gras a national holiday. Then I really wouldn't do another g*ddamn thing for a year and see how things worked out....Oh yeah, legalize pot, yeah!"

Jimmy will never be president. He wouldn't want the cut in pay.

Buffett for Prez

Post by phan45 »

Once again, love JB, not the politics. I'm too conservative. As one author puts it, "Shut up and Sing". We don't go to concerts to hear someones political opinions. That's why I like Jimmy, I've never heard him go political. :pirate:

EXACTLY! I don't care WHO Jimmy votes for or campaigns for (well, I DO, but...........). When I pay through the nose to hear him sing, I want to hear him SING, not do his Bra-bra Striesand/Michael Moore imitation of how "The Republicans are evil" crap, but to hear him SING. And he does that, does it well, and I respect the hell out of him for it. I don't pay to hear him say who his political candidate is, or how evil us conservatives are.
By the same token, if I ever go to listen to President Bush or Senator Kerry give a campaign speech, I'd like to hear what they're going to do for the country, not get up there and sing "Margaritaville."

I don't agree with his politics either, not at all.

Must have been all the inhaling he did that makes him think that way.
