What artists have you heard do JB covers live?

Post by reed69 »

Well a few weeks back i was at a lonestar concert to beat it all and they were playing all there hits and what not and all of a sudden they broke into margaritaville for what reason i have no clue but i thought it was awesome of them to do. Then i get the new kenny cd and he has a cover of come monday which i saw him do live as well towards the end of his set last year. One of my friends said she saw don mclean do a jb cover once , this got me to thinking , how many people are doing jb covers at there shows? who else have you seen ?

I have heard myself cover Jimmy daily. And I do not think I get the credit I deserve. Although my last concert did sell out in less than five minutes.

Sorry, needed to escape this world for a little while. And with that note I will leave work.......

Crosby, Stills & Nash cover Southern Cross :P

Seriously, was in a store a month ago and heard Southern Cross by CSN and my initial thought was "Hey, that's not Jimmy!"

Todd Snider has done a punk rock version of "Margaritaville" and Bob Dylan has covered "A Pirate Looks At 40".

"Stars on the Water" isn't a Buffett original, it's by Rodney Crowell.

I may have missed some strong sarcasm, it has been known to happen.

But I will say this anyways: Southern Cross is a CSN song. And for that matter, wasn't it actually CSN & Y. I thought it was some verbal battle with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Then again I could be wrong, that also happened before, but just once....

Actually it wasn't... "Southern Cross" is on the CSN (no Y involved) album, Daylight Again.

And FWIW the verbal battle with Lynyrnd Skynrd to which you refer, is Neil Young's song "Southern Man"

No problems. We learn something new everyday. With so much music out there it is hard to figure out who is whose music.

Yes, but the question was what bands have covered Jimmy Buffett songs, and "Stars On The Water" isn't one (of course I'll probably catch hell for this even though it's the truth). Rodney Crowell's original is well worth seeking out if you've never heard it as is his excellent new album Fate's Right Hand.

Wow, isn't it great to have our music experts online! Well at least bbarba was close...:) My hubby would have been sooo pleased to be the one to set this record straight, had he read it before you, Soul.
