Can anyone suggest cheap hotels that are walking distance from the St Pete forum? What is the tailgating scene in Tampa like?

Re: Tampa Hotels
The Forum/Ice Palace is downtown. There's a Marriott right there, but it's new and I doubt it's cheap. In fact there probably won't be anything cheap within walking distance. You could try, just for kicks, staying at the new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino just outside of town. They may have a shuttle service, and even if they don't it could be worth checking out anyway. AS far as tailgating goes, I haven't been to a Buffett show in Tampa, but the parking situation is a pain. I had a reserved spot for the last show I went to there, and the lot filled up anyway! Good luck.Parrothead Piper wrote:Can anyone suggest cheap hotels that are walking distance from the St Pete forum? What is the tailgating scene in Tampa like?

There's not much in the way of parking around the Forum, and the lots that are there are small, so the tailgating scene is Newk's or Channelside. And I agree Newk's is the place. Jim Morris is playing the pre-show again. Last year it was rocking right up to show time and again right after the show let out.
When you are known as a rascal, there's a good bet you showed off your a$$!
