ok, ive got this AIM trojan that puts "look i found %'s pictures here, hahah" in my buddy info. it dumped av.exe in my windows folder, and i cant delete it until i stop it from running.

the problem is, every time i try to run the task manager, it pops up for half of a second and automatically closes. i cannot get the task manager to stay open for more than a second.

suggestions??

im running XP btw.

Start up in safe mode; hit f8 repeatedly on start up until you see it start in a different way then normal (doesn't have to be machine gun fast, just until you see a start up menu)
Then choose Safe Mode - from there go to task manager, it should work then cause the bug hasn't loaded yet / hence Safe Mode..

i got it today. turns out i needed a McAfee update. found 244 infected files on my computer.

244? dude,you need to have your anti-virus on 24-7 and i update everyday.i have had good luck this way.only down side is the anti virus slows the puter down a little but if you have a fast enough one you shouldnt really notice

what happened was, i did a clean re-installation of windows last july. well dell did not send me a recovery disc for Norton, so i could not re install it. but i bought mcafee 8.0 today, and its great!
