Key West Wedding

Post by hemidancer2639 »

My Fiance and I are getting married in Key West next February. We are doing a small ceremony at Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park and then we are having the dinner at Margaritaville afterwards. (only about 24-30 people).

Can anyone give me info on places to stay, things that we should do, or other restaurants that may be better. We like the idea of live music and being at Margaritaville. Do you recommend scavenger hunts? The two hotels I have been given so far are the DOuble Tree and Holiday Inn Beachside! What do you all think?

You and yor wife should stay at the Crowne Plaza La Concha and try to request a room overlooking Mallory Square, it's a great hotel. It has a roof deck for watching the sunset. As for your guests they may opt for something a little less expensive, it can be spendy.

I got married in Key West in October 2001. We got married at Kelly's on Whitehead Street. They did a really nice buffet for us and the food and service were spectacular. They really went out of their way to make it a nice evening. We were orignally going to get married at Ft. Zachary State Park and then have dinner at Kelly's. But it was supposed to rain that night so Kelly's set up a separate area for us to have the ceremony. It was upstairs on a deck in the banyan trees. The night before we went on a sunset champagne cruise (which I highly recommend) and then had our "rehersal" dinner at Margaritaville. In all honesty, I was somewhat disspointed with Margaritaville as far as service goes. We had reserved an area for our party and when we got there, they had no idea we were coming and ended up sticking us in a corner upstairs. The food and atmosphere was fun, but not really what I had expected. We stayed at the Eden House which was awesome and within walking distance of everything. Good luck with everything!

The Eden House is a classic Key West stay....highly recommended.

La Concha is sweet as well.

If you have $$ to burn, Louie's Backyard for the reception.

A fun little getaway is to take a seaplane out to Ft Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas for the day.

I forgot about the Eden House, I hear that's nice too. I have a friend that I work with that stays there every year with another couple they rent the house or apartment type deal that has 2 or 3 bedrooms.
