Have you ever run into anyone at a concert that you know?

Here you can discuss any Buffett related topic.

Have you ever run into anyone at a concert that you know?

Post by Cribiansol »

I was just sitting here thinking that only one time in my life have I ever run into anyone that I knew at a Buffett concert.

When Jimmy used to play summerfest I saw this girl I went to school with wandering the summerfest grounds. Later when everyone was filing in for the concert I saw her again but this time she was in line to get into the ampitheater.

I remember at the time wondering if she was a fan or just knew someone that had a ticket so she went.

I've got a pretty good one. I was a sophomore in high school when I saw my high school principal at the St Louis show in 2000. That scored me some points at school, just had to bring up Buffett around her  Image

Last year at Alpine, I ran into the son of the man who's been my father's best friend since 1950! (A year and a half before I was born).
The last time I saw this "kid" was about 30 years ago. He's in his mid-40's now, and he recognized me, but I didn't recognize him.
When he told me who he was, I nearly did a quadruple back flip.

Phriends of my brother (and my brother's ex-wife) these were the same people I made my original pilgramage with. This has happened not once but twice. 40,000 people in hawaiian shirts can't be wrong...

I once ran into a friend/co-worker from a previous job. I knew he was into Buffett, but I didn't know he would be at the show (and vice-versa). Of course, we both had a few drinks under our belts, and that just added to the merriment.

Kinda weird considering the place we worked was a fairly small company at that point (about 30 people).

A few years ago, at Alpine, we ran into a professional colleague I had not seen in years. Should have known she was a parrothead!

Last year at Alpine I ran into the DJ from my wedding reception, and then a softball teammate of mine from college.

I also find myself running into people that I've only met at other Buffett concerts however, whose names I don't know but you'd think we're old friends!

My senior year in high school, I ran into my Physics teacher who was there with another teacher from my school. The worst part is, I was in the margarita line! :o

Then a couple of years ago in Pittsburgh, I ran into my neighbors, who I don't really talk to or see all that much. It was weird!

I donate platelets at the local blood bank every month. Two years ago I ran into one of the technicians at the Jones Beach show.

Never have. I hope to run into some old Phriends this year. They used to go all the time, but have stopped. Now I go and they don't. Maybe that will change this year.

I ran into my Boss last year at the sausage & peppers stand after the show. Luckily he was as drunk as I was!

There's a guy I went to school with (named Jimmy, ironically enough) and his dad, Dave. They "follow" Parrotville, the tribute band. I've seen them a couple times when Pville was playing....

And at Buffett shows - For the 2001 Camden show, I was in line for the portable ladies' room (we were in a paved lot), and a limo pulls up in the spaces between the room and the fence. Who gets out ? Jimmy & Dave

The following year, up in the lawn, Jimmy was carefully navigating the field of blankets while carrying a tray of beverages, and stopped to chat with us.

40,000 (?) people, two different years, and I run into the same people TWICE

Ya know, this has happened to me twice....Once in Orlando to see Jimmy w/my phriend from Florida....we were at the Orlando show, and we were walking the parking lot and just happened to past an old friend of mine, then once we got inside to go to our seats, as we walked through the doors there was that very same phriend....

Then at Jones Beach, while we were setting up for our tailgating a few cars away was that same friend again....talk about what are the chances..... :)
