How big IS BuffettNews?

Post by phjrsaunt »

Okay, kids. I have a project phor you. I was just noticing that BN has 6,000 some odd registered users. Other Buffett sites that I am aware have far fewer users.

Who can tell me how "frequently used" BN is in comparison to other Buffett-related websites>? I mean, I KNOW BuffettNews is the BEST one (I hope Key Lime Lee didn't hear me say that  ), but how can I find out how much traffic it gets in comparison to other Buffett-y sites?

C'mon you web-savvy Parrotheads, my inquiring mind wants to know. I'll even do the legwork if you tell me how.

Thanks!!!
Your pal,
Auntie :D :D :D :D

all I can guess is that is gets too much traffic...otherwise, the most important part of the site wouldn't have to be shut down

I am also curious to know how much bandwidth this site pulls each month. You'd have to ask the owner to find that info out

I contacted some unnamed but uniformed sources at COBO, they say that BN's members are very odd. i think this means war!

Well, at least we don't have to wear uniforms at BuffetNews.... unless you count the lanyards and "dating shirts" ;)

just teasing, maybe you meant 'informed' sources? If they were uninformed, I guess they don't know what they're talking about!!!

Well accordine to the members in ny PHC, JimmyDreamz.com is the best. When I mention BuffettNews.com, they say it's a bunch of old people. I guess that some get it and some don't. I get it

I'm a regular poster at CoBO. I USED to think it was the best Buffett site, but over the past several months they all act as if they've never HEARD of Jimmy Buffett. There is absolutely NO discussion on him whatsoever.
They all talk about everything from how they want to throw their panties and bras at John Kerry (that's the women AND men) to the one word extent of their vocabulary in their STUPID, RIDICULOUS viagra threads.
I've tried to start some Jimmy Buffett discussions over there, but they absolutely refuse to participate.
Which is one reason I've been gravitating toward here lately.
Another reason is that I've found there is usually SOME type of discussion going on here 24 hours a day, whereas CoBO seems to take a four hour lunch break from about 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, and shut down for the day at 5:00 PM, with the exception of the great political minds ( ) who like to spew their drivel when they get their bowels in an uproar.
I know there is a lot of off-topic discussion that occurs here too, the difference is that THIS web site actually has a JIMMY BUFFETT discussion board, as well as threads to talk about his albums, set lists, trivia, etc.
You may as well ask the CoBO people to discuss the horizontal parallax of the moon than anything about Jimmy Buffett.
They all know who I am, so I expect I'll hear from a few of them who will claim to have their feelings hurt, which isn't my intent, but it's not the site I once knew just a couple years ago.
And that's pretty sad.

I just recently started posting to the different websites and this is the only one I could find with regular users with good topics. I also would like to know the stats. 8)

I can only speak for myself, and I check in almost daily. Also, living here in S.Fl., only about 40 min.s from Bubba's main residence, which I drive by two or three times a month, I try and pass on any "scuttlebut" I hear of without compromising JB's privacy, as I have too much love and respect for he and his family to go to the "Enquirer" level. As always, G.M.,Jr.

Auntie... if ours was a Buffett site I would be offended... :)

But we figured Buffett News was the best Buffett site so we tried to be more broadly island. :)

And you'd have to ask PHJim about traffic and hits and stuff.

I can tell you that since April 1st and the demise of the BN social forums, the Key Lime Cafe has had neary 75,000 page requests and transferred nearly 6 GIG of traffic. That's only 12 days.

:-? :( I have to agree with you there, Garry. So many of the posters there are now unable to post during the day (me included) so it got pretty quiet. Many good folks have come and gone, and are still there, it's just quiet. :(
BN has always something being discussed, no matter what your tastes are. INCLUDING the reason we're mostly here. Jimmy. :D

My domain is hosted on apache and it includes some cheasy little stats page... so I'm sure something as big as bn can generate it quite easily.... check it out if you want to.
