Hey, just curious about what the mood is like in the area where the concert is at while waiting for it to all begin. If someone has been there previously, can you tell me when a good time to arrive to get a spot is? I was guessing like 12-1am. Is it worth the waiting around for 3-4 songs? Hey any stories or feedback would be great. My wife and I were thinking about giving it a shot even thou were seeing him a few days later in Camden. Thanks!

I am defintitely interested in some information. I went three years ago when he was on the show and it was a great time. I wasn't sure if any security measures have changed since then. We arrived at 11:30PM that time. I have not made definite plans yet, but I am strongly thinking about it.

Hey dudes!!! Here's the deal....

Last year I arrived at around 5 pm and was 10th in line. This year I'll be there by 4 pm. There will be a VIP area in front of the stage, so even after our 16 hour wait we still won't be right on top of the stage, but we will still be VERY close! AND IT IS DEFINATELY WORTH THE WAIT!!! The band and Jimmy come out at around 5 am and do a warmup set (this is before the VIP morons jump in in front of us). It's really cool to see them up there goofing around and warming up.
Much like any Jimmy show though, the most fun is in the time leading up to the show. Cops don't enforce anything on the sidewalk as long as your drink of choice is in a closed, unmarked container. The best part is the looks you get from people who have no idea who the hell you are or why you are dressed like such a freak! But people are always very friendly and often stop by to find out more about Jimmy and why we are willing to wait all night long to see him. Of course, the pholks there tailgating are great too! Last year it started pouring rain at about midnight and we were some soaked Parrotheads, but we still had a GREAT time! If the weather holds off this year I expect it to be 10 times better!!! Also, there is a small store across the street that is very accomodating in the bladder relief department and is open all night.
Of course, as you all know by now, Jimmy even stopped by last year (no, I won't subject you to the picture again! ) I don't expect him again this year, but ya never know I guess!!
Anywho, anyone who wants to get together, plan to be there at or close to 4 pm and we'll get the party started! It is very hard to "reserve" anyone a spot in line so if you're in a group it's a good idea to try and all get there together. Don't think that 1 person will be able to save a spot for 10 others cause it just ain't gonna happen!
I'd be happy to entertain any other questions! Just shoot me a PM or post in this thread.... :D :D :D

EDIT: One more thing... If you're not the type to be able to stay awake all night, things do mellow out a tad from about 2 am to 4 am, so you can take a little siesta before they heard us into the viewing area.

So it sounds like the "bathroom" facilities are equal to those that we find at regular Buffett concerts! :o

Well, my guess would be that by 9 pm there were 30 or so people there. And by 4 am or so the line was down around the block. They let you into the viewing area at around 4:30 which is about a half hour before the reefers and JImmy take the stage for the warmup. We do bring collapsable chairs. Last year we had someone parked in a garage down the street and we hauled the chairs to the car just before the viewing area opened. Unfortunately, all night parking there costs about $45!! There's not really any street parking in the area. It might not be a bad idea to try and find a spot uptown (70th to 90th streets) and grab a cab to Rockefeller. Unfortunately this causes an issue with your chairs but I'm pretty sure that as long as they are collapsable that you can bring them in. As far as the hotels, there are 100s of them in the area. the best thing I can tell you is to go online and take a look. Sorry, I don't have any inside info for you as far as that goes. Though I would recommend either the Marriot Marquise or Doubletree Suites in Times Square. They are very nice and the sometimes you can get a rate of $150 or so...
