As all of us know one of the problems we have trying to get tickets is fighting the scalpers whether it be brokers or ebayers . What are your thoughts on the idea of phellow parrotheads (that have the financial ability to do so) buying tickets for shows they are not attending and turning right around and placing them on the ticket exchange?
Would this just add to the problem or would it create more competition for the scalpers thus allowing more devoted fans to get tickets at cost?
Just trying to see if there is a way to make a dent in a growing problem.
I've got coastal confessions and a few more, how about you?
I had thought about this a time or two. I know if I were attending a show, I'd rather people that weren't going to the show stay off ticketmaster. I know it would be helpful to some, but it would also clog ticketmaster's server up more and it would cause those who were able to get through to get worse tickets.
While I think it is a very nice idea...it is an aweful a lot to ask for someone to take time get tickets, pay out of pocket and then spend time and maybe more money selling those tickets back to people here. There is also the risk that they will not get face value plus charges and what if, although unlikely, they are stuck with the tickets?
I always get extra and give them to friends....but to do all of that work and not even know who they would be going to...I'd be hesitant.

Ditto. I got burned, big time, by a fellow Parrothead (I use the term VERY loosely ) who called me and wanted an extra ticket I had posted on the exchange for Anaheim. Said he'd meet me in the lot between 3 and 4. Called me twice and left messages that he ABSOLUTELY wanted the ticket. He never showed, and stopped answering his cell phone. It was too late to sell the ticket; no buyers. Probably could have sold it earlier in the day at a pre-party. Ended up getting stuck with a very expensive ticket. No way will I buy extras any more unless I know I had friends who need them.

Great concept, but I'm afraid I can only echo what SGH and Kitty have already said. It's one of those things that, in theory should work, but in practice has too much room for error.
My love is staying an anchor tied to you with that silver chain.
Thanks for the comments. I have always been able to get tickets, but it just ticks me off when I read stories about phans getting shut out by ticketbastard and then seeing tickets for the same show on ebay that require taking out a second mortgage on your home. I guess we will just keep trying to think of new and better ways to provide for us phans.
Thanks again and Fins Up.

What we need is someone who is an undercover broker who can take estimated orders and then get tix ahead of time for those who ordered (maybe with a half downpayment or something).
Any volunteers??
How do you get to become a broker?

I do it fairly often (about 4 or five times a year)...the only time I got burnt was the Chicago Thursday show last year...turned out I sent them to a co-worker (free of charge) and she's been eternally grateful....
I'm hardly rich, but like trying to help another. Plus, you never know when you can turn a pair you can't use into a pair you can via the trade
I understand why some people would be reluctant to do that though...laying out $200-$300 at a time is not chump change. It also drives my wife nuts
