Here we go!!! Tampa on Thursday!! I hope to make y'all proud!! If there's any tips on making this night even MORE than I ever dreamed, please share. We are beyond excited and counting down the hours!!
We'd like to bring a camera or two. Is this a good idea? Is there a good way to do this? Any other advice?
Once again, thanks to the BN site and PHriends for encouragement, great support and enthusiasm. You all feel like family and being a JB phan is so much fun. If ever I had to be deflowered in front of thousands, I'm glad it's gonna happen with you!
A couple of years ago I had a camera in my pocket, didn't even try to hide it. I got patted down at the gate and the security guy said "That's your phone, right?" I told him it was and he just waved me in, never asked me to take it out of my pocket so he could see it.
Cubbie Bear wrote:Somebody had the suggestion of letting the gate nazi find a camera, but having the one you really are trying to get in hidden better (pants)
btw, camera in pants is fine, phone set on vibrate in pants is much better
gotta love the vibrating phones!!!!
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.
You can also put the camera in the back of your bra/bikini top. If you have a jacket or cover up on, they rarely pat you down on your upper back. (If you are male, I guess you will have to enlist a female friend to assist you with this effort)
`How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
`You must be,' said the Cat, `or you wouldn't have come here.'
My sister in law is usually recruited to smuggle the camera, because she wears a hawian shirt over her twins, which have room for a little luggage in between. Hell, who am I kidding, she could hide a 12 pack in there!
Looking forward to meeting you, and all my parrothead friends
We just returned home last night!! We had a blast. We arrived in Tampa on Wednesday, located our hotel on the Gulf and hung out until Thursday. We got a ride to Newk's on Thursday around 4:30. What a riot. Everyone was so friendly and we were able to locate a few stools to sit on while we had some drinks and waited to get something to eat. Once inside, we dined on Newk's famous Crunchy Grouper...fabulous!!!
We made our way over to the Forum, found our seats and settled in. We were high up but near the stage so our vantage point (except for the height) was really good.
Jimmy's acoustic opening was so cool. We loved the entire selection of songs and what amazed me the most is how Jimmy's love of life and job really comes through the entire night. You just can't help pick up on it the fun HE is having throughout the night. The band rocked and the singers were great. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire concert. My husband and Dad were both pilots and boat owners and loved seeing all the videos and photos on the big screens.
The only bummer was that we could not make out what Jimmy was saying between songs. We thought maybe it was our location but then heard others say that they felt it was more venue related.
We also heard about the 2005 concert being outdoors in the Tampa area. That would be awesome too.
Thanks to everyone who wished us well. It was a dream come true and I think my favorite moment of all was when my Dad sang along to Pencil Thin Moustache!!! I doubted that song would make the setlist but when I heard the first few notes I was so excited!! That was icing on the cake of the whole experience. My Dad sang along with every note and to me, that made my night. It is the song I thought a few years ago, would be one he would love; it was the song I chose to be the first one I'd play for my Dad... and indeed it was the song that began my Dad's parrothead adventure. Perfect. I could not have been happier. As long as we live, that night will be a famous evening shared between he and I.
SO in a nutshell, I am no longer a Buffettvirgin and couldn't feel better about myself, even though I lost my virginity in front of 15 or 20 thousand of my new best friends!! It was all I thought it would be and more!!!
Thanks, Jimmy for giving us a great night of entertainment; one which we will never forget!
Thanks for the report, JaP. I'd been wondering how you and your
interesting crew enjoyed the experience. What section were you
sitting in? Anywhere near where these were taken from? http://www.buffettfan.net/gallery/thumb ... p?album=95
Glad you had such a great time, but I knew you would!
How far was the trip to Tampa for you?
