First Jimmy Song
Although I'm sure the answer is almost always Margaritaville (I still love the song) what, where, and when was the first time you heard Jimmy? Mine was at my middle school carnival. I asked the cutest girl in school to ride the Ferris Wheel with me. While we were riding, Margaritaville was blaring over the Carney's radio. It had just come out. What an awsome memory...

...Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum and we wound up drinkin' all night...

I dont remember the 1st song I ever heard. I grew up listening to Buffett. My parents are both PH's from back in the late 70's. Buffett was always playing in our house practically every day. So I can't name a specific song. But one of the 1st songs i have a good memory about is Stars On The Water. But I did love growing up in the PH house. My parents and my 3 sisters are all going to see JB for the thurs chicago show. Should be a really fun family outing. The youngest sister is 16 so she is the DD! haha! Lucky her.

Margaritaville....I was like 8 or so...it was on the radio. It seems like I didnt exactly like the song, yet, I couldnt stop listening....heard it again, liked it more, however, at the time I thought the words where
"But I know, it's my old man paul"
....nobodys fault, ya know? hehehehe
Then my dad's friend recorded about half of SYKBH onto a tape off a CD...I listened to it on my radio & walkman over & over & over & over all summer long, and I think into the next summer (I was like 11-12) then my dad bought feeding frenzy, and it's been all downhill from there

I was at White Water water park in Branson one summer back several years ago and Margaritaville came on and I asked who was singing this cause I thought the name of the song was funny, and my brother said Jimmy Buffett and I said the words that make my head hurt now when I hear someone say them... "who's Jimmy Buffett?"

A friend of mine came over to a party I was having when I was 16 or so, about 12 yrs. ago. I knew of Margaritaville but never really knew, or cared, who sang it. He brought the Feeding Frenzy disc over and played Cheeseburger in Paradise. I hate to say it but I laughed and said "who in the hell would write a song about a cheeseburger?" I still don't really like CIP but since then, after listening, (and beginning drinking) the Buffett music, lifestyle, and craziness has not stopped.

I don't know if it was the 1st, but my earliest memories are of my brother Gregg playing guitar / singing Come Monday on the couch back in the 70's - whenever he was home. He also played Banana Republics, Son of a Son of a Sailor, Pencil Thin Mustache, and CILCIA quite a bit too.
I don't recall when I 1st heard them by this Jimmy Buffett character, but I'm sure it was back then as well.

Cheeseburger for me. My mom used to always listen to SYKBH, and one day I thought I would give it a listen. I really enjoyed SYKBH, then moved onto Fruitcakes in my parents collection. I didnt understand parrotheadism until my first concert in 2001 though. It has been wonderful ever since!

I have told this story before, but it is always funny (I think)
Back in the winter of '75, a bunch of seniors from Niles West High School, in Skokie, Il. snuck into a bar by Loyola University in Chicago to visit some friends who were freshman there.
We were drinking and playing pool, when a friend of mine came running from the other room screamming,"Billy, Billy they've got it on the juke box, Its a song about f*cking"
We played WDWGDAS so many times the manager said, "If you guys don't stop playing that god d*amn song, I'll throw you out of here"

My parents brought me up right. The first song I really remember listening to was This Hotel Room off Havana Daydreamin I think. I always wondered what Magic Fingers was, and my parents wouldn't tell me. My dad just said that Fingers played harmonica. What's a 5 year old to do?
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

it was many moons ago, i had just turned 13, and my sisters had just come home for there first break from college. they said they had something for me that i might like. they gave me a copy of songs you know by heart that a friend had copied. i fell in love with it immediatley. i can remember to this day a few days later when my mom was driving me somewhere and i put the tape in. she loved it as well and then that ""1 song" came on, why dont we get drunk! she flipped i laughed and i have been a die hard parrothead ever since. i am 27 years old now.

When I was a senior in high school, 1994, I dated a guy who was a sophomore in college (my first love). He always talked about Buffett and played Buffett tapes in his car. My first purchase was SYKBH on cassette and then almost every other cassette I could find. The song that still plays over in my head is "Come Monday" b/c we had such a long distance relationship. Needless to say, it didn't last, but my love for Buffett did.
