They are both great names, but I prefer Savannah. Go for it!
I told this story a couple of weeks ago but I need to tell it again. You all are the only ones who would understand.
When I first heard "Delaney Talks To Statues" I thought he was saying "Shelsie dreams float, life's good on our boat". My (ex-whoops) wife was pregnant with our youngest daughter and I kept telling her that "Shelsie" (pronounced Shell-Sea) would be a great name. So we did it! I realized afterwards that he was saying "Shells sink dreams float..". She is now 6 years old. She is a huge parakeet/ fan. I have not had the heart to tell her yet that Daddio came up with her name from misunderstood lyrics.
Maybe it was Divine Intervention.
...Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum and we wound up drinkin' all night...
I wouldn't... instead; I would probably name them after wine!
Our two cats are named Zin and Ries - short for Zinfandel (male) and Riesling (female). Cab and Chard (Cabernet and Chardonney) would have worked too but we liked the other one's better.

That's a neat idea...however, I think my kids might resent being named Boone's Farm and Mad Dogkurt wrote:I wouldn't... instead; I would probably name them after wine! Our two cats are named Zin and Ries - short for Zinfandel (male) and Riesling (female). That's hilarious that this topic came up. My wife (who didn't even know who Jimmy Buffett was before we got together) loves the name Savannah and picked it out for our first child if she is indeed a girl. I tried to keep it to myself, but had to tell her. Now she's afraid our friends will think I'm an obsessed stalker.
But hey, at least I'm not after FINS as a middle name! I assured her that if we had twins I wouldn't go after "Jimmy" and "Jane" either. See ya'll in Charlotte!

we have wait until we have the strength to go through that process again... Savannah is our top name. Savannah may or savannah jane..... I am starting to like Delaney more and more... My son is sam and is a fifth. I wanted a daughter named samantha so we would have sam(me), sam(my son) and sam(a daughter) but my wife thought I might turn into george foreman...... I always liked savannah before I was a phan....

Ok, while we are on the subject of naming kids after wine, I got a funny story. About 3 years ago, I'm at a tattoo shop having some work done on my backpiece. In walks this wannabe gangsta looking brother, and he tells the guy that's working on me that he wants to have his daughter's name put on his arm right away. Following is a loose transcript of the conversation:
Tattoo Guy: What is your daughter's name?
Customer: Chardonnay
TG: How do you spell it?
C: Just like the wine
TG: I dont' drink wine, tell me how it is spelled
C: Just like on the bottle
TG (getting annoyed): I don't know how it is spelled on the bottle, don't you know how to spell your own daughter's name?
C: Not really
TG: Um, how old is she?
C: 4 or 5, I guess
TG: Get the f*** out of my shop and don't ever come back!
We both laughed so hard after that we had to take a 15 minute break to calm down

If my youngest had been another boy, we were going to name him Finn after the Irish folk hero Finn McKool. That was my wife's idea. I just liked the added benefit of the Buffett reference.botdrnk wrote:That's hilarious that this topic came up. my wife had a student whos name was tequila passmore. So when you read it off of the class list it was passmore, tequila. She later asked the mom about the name and the mother replied "her daddy and I were kickin it one night with some tequila and I just thought it was funny"
We need more parents in this country like her

While were on the subject of names, I have a friend who's last name is Head.......I'm trying to to convince him to name his first son Parrot, or at least the middle name

We used to laugh at Grandpa when he'd head off and go fishing. But we wouldn't
be laughing that evening when he'd come back with some whore he picked up in
town.
