I have....great place. I haven't been there in a couple of years. When we first went in the early nineties, it wasn't that busy of a place. There was even an ad in the paper for a narrow piece of land ON THE BEACH for sale for only $50,000 dollars. If I'd had the money, I would've bought that land and made mucho money selling it now. Anyway, it's grown considerably now...great restaurants (Lulu's place, of course!), great shopping and that wonderful white cool soft sand the Gulf Coast is known for. I personally can't wait to go back. I hope it never gets as busy and commercial as Destin has gotten, but I have a feeling it will. :( Go to http://www.gulfshores.com and get started. p.s....try not to stay in Ft. Morgan...not a fancy place, to say the least. Orange Beach is great, it's kinda part of Gulf Shores.

I'm going to Destin in August and have already told my girlfriend that the car ride down is going to take a little longer because we're making a slight detour to eat at Lulu's. :D

Gulf Shores is perfect, atleast for me. Go down rent a house on the beach and live it up. It is really leid back there but also expensive I think. I have yet to go to Lulu's place yet but I will the next time I get the chance to visit. I have stayed in a house and in the state park. The state park resort was ok however far from fancy. If ya have the dough get the house.
Another piece of advice is to watch out for the crabs!!

Best time I ever had was staying at Romar House at Orange Beach. It is a bed and breakfast house. The breakfasts are great. There is also a private bar called Purple Parrot Bar. It is a sister to the Purple Parrot Bar in Belize. The owner also owns a place I would consider staying at at Perdido Key.

Went to Lulu's at Weeks Bay several times, but haven't made it to Lulu's at Homeport yet.

It is always fun to catch John Reno at the Calypso Joe's!

Brent Burns is good to see too. I saw on his website he is at Lulu's.

Don't miss action at Flora-bama

Hope the info helps. Can you tell I love that place?

MargaritaMatt.....I would recommend staying in Orange Beach.
Just to add to the list
Of course LuLu's is a must..
For great food with a great view stop by Tacky Jack's. It is right
across the street from Calypso's in Orange Beach.

Place to stay check out Winfield Resorts Hotel & Condos
www.winfieldresorts.com
If you call them ask for Heather in group reservations.
Tell her you are a Parrothead. This is where we have our
annual event each year Stars Fell On Alabama....They will take care
of you.

When you venture on down to the FloraBama make sure you
go by on Saturday between 12pm - 2pm. You will have a blast
with Rusty McHugh and ask for Barbara who will be behind the
bar.

Hey let me know if you make plans to head this way. I am
only 45 minutes away from Orange Beach. Will meet you
for a couple of Boat Drinks.
