Fix the License to Chill Tour

Post by Goodman »

With the tumultuous uproar over prices and protocol at Fenway my thoughts go to a man I wish would appear with JB. No it's not Clint Black or Alan Jackson, George Strait or Chesney. It's a man too many have forgotten. An original Coral Reefer whose sound is key to why you first enjoyed A Pirate Looks at 40, and ten other classics. Greg "Fingers" Taylor should be on tour; cause the show ain't quite as good without him. The smoke and dancers and restless natives and all that jazz is fine but give us Fingers Taylor and you got true JB music.

What's to fix??? Having just seen the Charlotte and Raleigh shows there were no restless natives, smoke, Tiki gods, etc. THAT WAS LAST YEAR! Jimmy brought back some great early pieces and with the new arrangements you don't even notice that Fingers isn't there. Besides if you think he only played on APLA40 and ten other classics you have really missed a lot of great music. Sure I loved seeing Fingers in years past, but it's been 5 years - get over it.

I believe that Fingers is the one who burnt all the bridges...highly doubtful you will ever see him play with Jimmy again.

Why do we need Fingers when we have the Coral Reefer Horns?

Yep, it was Fingers who left. I think APLA40 sounds better with Amy playing the sax anyway.

What if someone is new here and wants to discuss Fingers, Kenny Chesney, or any of the other topics certain folks here have deemed off limits?

I for one would love to see Fingers return and miss his presence from Buffett's albums and live performances greatly.

Need the Harpoon Man Back

Post by Goodman »

Thanks Jahfin for your enlightened view. It's like Tryin To Find Reason with the Hurricane Season around here. I could have gone back thru my treasure chest of vinyl and listed every solo Fingers had from White Sportcoat thru the 90's, but hey that's a lot of work and like 5 people out there would appreciate the effort. A Pirate Looks at 40 is the signature Fingers solo that I think most folks identify Fingers with. I listed that one plus 10 unnamed and people who don't want to see him still got the time to correct me. Look I'm old school, I was watching Jimmy before most of these upstarts was even born and before there was such a thing as a parrothead.

I enjoy Amy Lee and particularly Nadira but I don't really need eyecandy or Junior Mints when I see JB.
