"License to Chill" album delayed

Post by Bwana Paul »

Mailboat Records issued the following statement: "Right now the CD is scheduled to be released in mid July." Just a little more longer...

All I've heard is the title track - of course on RM - and I've heard the buzz about Coast of Carolina. Any other clue as to what is on LTC? Any other rumors of duets or new recordings of classics (i.e., Meet Me in Margaritaville)?

With the new expected date, I'll see it live before the cd is released - NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT 8)

Jimmy covers the Grateful Dead's "Scarlet Begonias" and a Hank Williams tune on it.

License to Chill

Sorry to be so repetitive, but the title of this album is too scary for me! It makes me think of license renewals, long lines at the DMV and tag renewals. Yech!

Besides, I do not think that "License to Chill," is the best Jimmy Buffett song! A lot of the songs on that album are much better songs. Coast of Carolina would be a better title, or any number of titles. License to Chill? Come on, Mr. Buffett!

If all went as planned, wouldn't we all be listening to the new album right now?

at the rate we are going, when I finally see Jimmy this year, in late August, at Tinley Park, I amy be hearing Coast of Carolina for the first time! I'm not sure how much longer i can deal with Steve cutting in to plays tapes during the live concert feeds!

Not that I doubt this news because I'm sure its accurate given Mailboat's history...but what is the source of this information?

I have repeatedly asked Mailboat for comment on the new album. They wouldn't tell me on the phone and they wouldn't confirm a date via email. Then out of the blue this news arrives.

Did someone get an email from Mailboat with this info? Did Buffett say it in concert? Was it mentioned on RM? Was it published in an article elsewhere

Just curious. Thanks!

Wasn't the name of the album originally supposed to be "Conchy Tonk"? I thought those recordings were in the can last fall. What's up? new additions, re-mixing, videos? 8)

Jimmy said that there were some "legal issues" with the name Conchy Tonk.

When RM blacked out the Tampa show for a new song, you could hear Hey Good Lookin' bleed over when Steve Huntington was talking.

Maybe Jimmy is actually writing more of the songs on the album again. Seems like after Banana Wind he's only written/co-written a few songs for each album.

Coast of Carolina is really a very very good song. I heard it saturday at the Sunrise, FL show. . . but unfortunately, Jimmy didn't write it  , but at least its good music.
