Camden newbie

Post by semitruths »

Hi pholks,

I've been visiting here (Buffettnews) for years .... never made the effort to set down the Capt'n, climb outta the hammock, and join. I've been going to the Chicago and Detroit shows for years ..... but I have a problem most of us wish for ..... a Buffett virgin friend of mine has gotten tickets for us to Camden. She lives near there ....... I live in Michigan. I'm looking for a heads-up on the Camden scene .... and for phriends when I get there. It sounds like the Hyatt is the place to be but we are at a different hotel. I need to know when the parking lot opens, is there a 'good' and a 'better' lot, ........ things like that ..... or any other suggestions.

There is a 1 Corona penalty to be paid by you to anyone at Camden from BN for posting in the wrong place. I expect prompt payment. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation

Semi,
You'll love camden. I've been to 8-10 shows there and I have a great time every year. The parking lots are a lot of fun and the cops don't hassle you about tailgating. The city is terrible but the venue is right on the water which makes for nice scenery. I advise you to get there early because traffic can be bad and the good parking lots fill up quick. especially if they don't open the parking lot next to the ben franklin bridge. Sometimes there's a baseball game the same night and they use that parking lot for the game....Fins Up :)

sorry semi, hotels I can't help you with. However, the parking lots start opening up around noon, possiblly earlier. The best lots are the ones located right outside the tweeter center, and the aforementioned lot next to the BFB. last year they had a lot located between the two mentioned above which was also nice. The BFB lot is a asphalt lot, the tweeter lots are gravel, and the in between lot is grass. Sorry if I'm not explaining it well, however all three lots are on the same street so that makes it easy. There are plenty of signs around so getting to the venue shouldn't be difficult. Hope that helps

Piratical,

Thanks ..... I still could use a time as to when the lots open and which lot entrance would be best. I like to be waiting for the lots to open.

There is a Comfort Inn just up the street from the RiverLink Ferry near Penn's Landing and a Holiday Inn at 4th and Arch Sts., both a short walk to the ferry. The ferry leaves Penn's Landing and takes to right to the NJ State Aquarium, located next to the Tweeter Center. Last year the party at the Comfort Inn went until 3:00AM!!

Thanks, I've never stayed at a hotel when coming to one of JB's concerts ..... I'm figuring this to be a good time. We are staying at the Comfort Inn. Where is the 'party' at ..... a few PH rooms?? a conference room?? a whole floor???? THE WHOLE HOTEL????? 8^D

Being that I've always parked and tailgated ..... I guess I'm still not sure about coming across on the ferry ..... you can only carry a small amount of things. Where do the people coming across on the ferry set up .. or take up any 'homestead' in the parking lot??? Do you bring all your stuff into the concert when they let you into the amphitheatre??? Do you limit yourself to what you are wearing and a throwaway cooler???

Don't worry, those of us driving there will make sure our riverbound friends are well taken care of.

Also, you can always buy a disposable cooler to carry some beer in and just walk around and enjoy the festivities (that way you won't care about the cooler when the day is over). Also, I'm sure that you'll find a number of PH's willing to share some food and drink.

When you get off the Ferry, just head to your left and you'll find the lots everyone is talking about... also, the lots usually open at 11ish. and if you choose to drive, the parking is a little steep ($20.00).

But other then that, you'll have a great time at Camden!

Parking is a little much!!!! I don't remember paying for parking in Chicago .... so if I did it wasn't much.

Thanks for eveyone's input.

I guess I'll see about making Camden Parrothead friends here on BN .... and then playing "Where's Parrothead Waldo" when I get to the parking lot.
