Who knew?
Coffehouse hipsters Evan & Jaron, famous for their Dawson Creek single Crazy For This Girl, have Jimmy Buffett to thank - at least partially - for their success.
From their website (www.evanandjaron.com):
"Next time you bump into Jimmy Buffett on the street, be sure to thank him, too.
Shortly after Evan & Jaron's live performances were added to the menu at a local coffeehouse, quick convert Jimmy Buffett ushered them into the recording industry's major leagues."
Buffett helped broker their major label debut with Island in 1998. They've since gone independent and have a new release, Half Dozen, that has received positive reviews from many (EW gave it a B+).
I haven't heard much of their music, but plan to pick up the new disc today. According to All Music Guide, the CD is available at most record stores for less than $6.
