Ticket brokers own the Fenway show...

Post by regan006 »

Saturday morning, I sat in front of 2 computers running DSL lines, me on one, my brother on the other, 2 land phone lines, 3 cellphones (calling 5 different ticketmasters), and my buddy was working almost the same amount of stuff.... all to get fenway tickets.
At 10:09 am I got through on one phone. Already there wasn't a single ticket availible for friday night, and sunday had only single scattered seats in the stands (which i got).
To sell out friday night in 9 minutes means selling more than 60 tickets PER SECOND. Figure that Sunday was done shortly thereafter and we're talking more like 120 tickets per second. That's more than 7000 per minute. Think that ticketmaster actually has the capability to do that? I don't.
The worst part was that at 10:15 the radio ads started from the ticket *brokers* proclaiming that they had tickets. I called them to see what they could offer... they had 8 adjoining seats for sunday night in the stands... for $200/seat. Friday night was $250/seat.
It's just ludicrous, a huge scam. I think it's a terrible idea to have the show at Fenway, and I hope that we can go back to Great Woods after this screwup... (although i'm still excited for it - 1st show where i'll be 21!)

I imagine that lots more had similar trouble... have you resorted to brokers yet?

Without knowing how many tickets were held back for season ticket holders, its tough to say why they went so fast. High speed internet is still the best way to go, no matter what the show.
Tryin' to tell myself that my condition is improvin' and if I don't die by Thursday, I'll be roarin' Friday night.

Something I think is terrible. I was looking for tickets on ebay the Fri. before they went on sale. There were hundreds on sale. The ticket agencies already had theirs and were out in full force selling them. It really sucks that the fenway people feel they have to give almost all the seats to the brokers to get rich.
They do the same with redsox tickets. I guess its the easy way to "sell out" all your events.

My father is a season ticket holder for Fenway and the deal with those people were that they were each designated one ticket for each season ticket seat they have for the Sox game. The ticket sale for season ticket holders happened AFTER general sales already took place, so I am going to guess that there weren't a lot of tickets being offered for sale on Sat. in the first place. Since a lot of Sox season ticket holders have pre-planned agreements with brokers for their tickets, it's not surprising that so many brokers were already offering up tix. I know of many Sox season ticket holders who had no desire to go to the Buffett show, but had no problem making some cash off their seats...aka selling them to the brokers.
You were doomed from the start. Sorry!!

Ticket Brokers

We need to get together all the PH's in the World and buy out as many tickets as humanly possible and take away the brokers edge. We can then resell the tickets to all PH's or trade, making no profit and do it for eachother. There are too many nightmare stories about trying so hard to attain tickets and then pay high crazy prices on ebay. In my opinion this must stop, Jimmy only has a few good years left before he cuts back on the number of concerts. This is a time when we have to stand up and take back what belongs to us the fans...Thank you for listening.

I wish it was that simple. Even the suppossed "ph" in this group won't sell their extra tickets at cost.
As far as buying as many tickets as possible it can't happen. most of the tickets were sold ahead of time to either the brokers or the season ticket holders. they were being sold on ebay before the tickets actually went on sale.

I know a ticket broker who told me Buffett has been a flop with them. Most all brokers over-bought and are having a hard time selling the tickets for much more than face value. The only tickets selling for profit are the field seats he says.

Take a look at eBay many Buffett @ Fenway auctions are ending with the tickets selling at or less than face value. With over 70,000 tickets available most fans who wanted tickets got them and others are not going because of the no tailgating policy. Many of the casual fans who would normally go to Great Woods mainly for the tailgating with a $35.00 lawn ticket are not going to pay $84 for a Fenway ticket with no tailgating and no GA lawn section. Tickets are available just look around.
