Jimmy's New Single Delivered Today!

It's a funny day at my mailbox, I got a new Uncle Cracker cd (!) and the new Jimmy Buffett single. Checking my business cards... I do work in country music, right?

The Buffett single is cool. It's "Hey Good Lookin' " and features special guests Clint Black, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and George Strait. Truthfully, there are more special guests than Buffett on here. But it's really fun. There's no way country radio can NOT play this heading into summer!

The most interesting thing to me was on the back of the single. "From the RCA Records Nashville Release LICENSE TO CHILL." Did I miss the part where Jimmy signed with RCA?

Apparently that's a distribution thing only. For more details, check the "Anyone have any News on the Album Release?" thread in this forum but beware, it contains a post from me that's a cut and paste news article.

I have no idea how radio works. Does this mean that radio stations can start playing it today???

Technically, they could, but realistically it takes longer than that to get into the 'system.' I imagine it's going for adds next Tuesday.

The distribution deal makes sense, that's a good strong arm to have behind him!

I heard "Hey Good Lookin'" on the radio about 2 hours ago. It was on a station out of Greenville, N.C. My hubby and I were driving home from our place at the beach up in Cape Carteret and the song was about half over before I recognized what it was. I couldn't believe my ears!! It's great tune. There are alot of other people singing on it, though, so there isn't a whole lot of Jimmy but it definitely sounds like a "Jimmy song". The DJ, at the end of the song, announced it as, "a new single from Jimmy Buffett" and went on to name all the other artists featured.

All I can say is FINALLY!!! :D

Awesome Bubba Phan! Nice to know there are some stations out there that aren't ruled by the Cheap Channel iron fist.

Thanks guys. I've missed y'all!

I think I heard it on the radio today. I heard Hey Good Looking and thought to myself - that sounds like Jimmy, but right at that moment I had to take a call and the call lasted thru the end of the song.

None of the Columbus, Ohio or Huntington, WV stations have even received the single yet. I've checked with friends and contacts at seven different stations and they were all quite surprised by this information.

Does anyone have a scan of the single or the sleeve? Anyone willing to provide an audio sample (:30 second snippet - anything)?
