How are brokers able to get so many tickets when there is a 6 or 8 ticket limit?

They have lists of season ticket holders that they purchase tickets from. Plus Im sure they have lots of people buy their limit the day tickets go onsale.
EDIT: I should add this is PURE speculation on my part.

I wish I knew. they must have connections directly with the concert promoters. I saw brokers advertising tickets before they ever went on sale

Not only does Clear Channel own the concert venues(In most cases). Clear Channel also owns many ticket broker companies. Figure out for your self how they are getting so many tickets.

Most all ticket brokers are privately owned but are linked up to a company called Ticket Transaction
www.tickettransaction.com each broker puts into the TT database the tickets they have for each show and those tickets become available to all the brokers that are affiliated with TT. When tickets sell the broker who owns the tickets makes a profit and the brokers site where the tickets were sold from makes a profit. This is why it looks like brokers have so many tickets when in fact they really don't they are all just pooled together in cyberspace. What you see when you go to a brokers site like ticketsnow.com is a list of tickets that you will find on almost any other brokers site, they all pull from the same database on TT.

For a less high-tech method, when I lived in Oklahoma City, there was one sleazy broker there that used to pay homeless people to camp out the night before to have the first spots in the line.

These broker posts are starting to rival the Great Woods posts.

The part I don't get is why it's illegal in most states for me or you to sell a concert, or event, ticket for more than the face value of the ticket; yet, the brokers can legally bend us all over and charge many times the face value in the name of supply and demand.

i asked my lawyer friend regarding the laws on scalping. and at least in ohio, as long as the person isn't selling tickets for more than face value on the venue premises it is not illegal. so walking to a tribe or browns game, you see all scalpers stopped at the last intersection as if there was an electric fence.
but i have been trying to figure out how brokers get so many tickets

Yes they are. And while we're at it, can anyone help me date a shirt?

Actually the scalpers are just trying to sale tickets from the 95 season. We are still living in the past and wish not to acknowledge the Triple - A team we now get to watch

What I don't understand is how Buffett's concerts sell out so fast! I attend several other concerts a year but his by far sells out faster, (at least the ones i go to) I know he's great, but to sell out a 30K seat stadium in 5 minutes is unbelievable! Has anyone ever saw anyone sell out so fast???

That is true they do get them from season ticket holders. I was talking to a guy last week at a broker in Boston, I was looking for Red Sox bleacher tix. He was pretty cool he told me to wait for the day of the game if I can they drop the price so they can break even. He did say that they buy their tickets from season ticket holders for twice face value on most cases and same was true for Buffett and other shows at the Tweeter centers that offer season tickes packages.

Nic, Springsteen consistently sells out big stadiums very quick. The only other two shows I have seen that have come close to selling out as fast as Buffett was the Rolling Stones and U2
