and his cover songs of choice included Van Morrison's done-to-death Brown Eyed Girl.
Well the author is right on there.

But a "Grade: C".... that may be slightly low.

this is the kind of review you get when the writer didn't want to be there. it is his job to find the negative along with the good.

Exactly. Either you get it or you don't. I can't imagine going to a Buffett concert with a pen and paper and taking notes. It's hard to drink a margarita and write a report at the same time. As a friend once told me, if you can remember the 60's, you weren't really there.

you should have been in Miami last year. Jimmy put on an good show. You could tell he was tired and wanted rest. The audience was a bunch of sticks in the mud. Wouldn't get up up and dance at all. Barely got up during Margaritaville......
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

The review wasn't that bad at all. Pretty much states the obvious that a lot folks don't want to hear. He has said many times if he had his way we wouldn't hear songs like Cheeseburger etc.
He showed life playing new songs and the acoustic set we would all love for him to do. He did say it's ashame he doesn't allow himself to preform alone and I agree I would love to see more of him like that. Not knocking the kick @ss talent of the Reefers, but Jimmy alone with his six string can not be beat and will always win hands down.
I remember being at the rehearsal show for the FSOTW tour and during Margaritaville he had a disgusted look on his face and then he quickly snapped out of it then put on a smile.
I agree that a C is a little low...Jimmy could fart and I'd still listen and atleast give him a B.

For the a**hole & Whino Wrote The Review.......

Post by IsleReef »

This is for the "a**hole & Whino" who wrote the review....... "F.U.!!!!!!" We listened here on Long Island and have seen Jimmy and the Band at least 8 times over the past years....... It sounds like a review that my 90 year old aunt would give as she would have no clue to what its all about.... What a pathetic paper and writer to have such a bad review..... But who really care's.... right??? We know what its all about and this pathetic loser piece of S*#T who abviously has no future, and will never make a grain of sand in $$$$$ compared to what Jimmy has done in his career, can go rant and rave over the Britney Spears, Cyndi Lauper, & American Idol losers this summer................. Good Luck on a bright future digging out of garbage dumpsters for a scrap of an eaten chicken leg from KFC.........

Wow- He p*** me off...............

They have to rehearse Margaritaville?

I'd think they'd have that one down by now....

 The guy obviously wasn't either:

1) There
2) Has never seen one of Jimmy's shows before
3) Doesn't have good taste in music
4) Doesn't appreciate the WHOLE experience

I was, I have, I do, and it most certainly do! 8)

Why are you guys getting on this guy's case? He has a job like you and me, that job is to review music concerts. He did exactly that. He is probably supposed to come into the concert without any expectations, no big prior knowledge and he is to observe the music, the artist's attitude, the crowd and enthusiasm.

I was not at the concert so I can not tell how accurate he is but I can tell you one thing, I can understand how Jimmy may not be as enthused about performing the same old songs. I mean - he probably does 50 shows a year(?) or more and has been touring for many many years. Doing many songs (cheeseburger, margaritaville, CILCIA, etc) day in and day out. I would assume that it would be tiring and get really old to sing those that often. So I can see how Buffett may be going through the actions of playing and not putting his heart into it. When he goes back to the good old days (first couple accoustic songs) or his new stuff it is a big relief and a very very welcome change.

I can see how a C was warrented and it may be well deserved. Doing the same things for years on end without much change will be tiring and will cause you to not give it your all and not put your heart in it unless it is something new or different.

Before you react and freak out just open your minds and listen to what he has to say and try to see it from his perspective.

I agree with Dazedniteman. He11 I didn't think the review was flat out horrible there have been 10 times worse written and not everyone is going to say IT WAS THE GREATEST !!! Sh*t the fella would lose his job.
He actually credited Jimmy by metioning it would be nice to have Jimmy do a entire show like he started this one. Loosen up pholks it's ok to have a different opinion I am sure Jimmy would agree. He would probably appreciate the honesty instead of the same ole "It was the greatest show on earth Jimmy"

Yeah they rehearsed Margaritaville and Jimmy looked flat out sick for a few minutes..can ya blame him? NA!

A review is just one person's perspective ~ perspectives can get distorted, so they don't hold much water!

From my perspective in my dining room, it was a GREAT concert, because I shared the experience with some really fun people in the Set List thread. There were some old concert standby's, some great old songs with refreshing new life in the set list, and some new songs that squeeked in past the censor. But best of all, there was Jimmy, and there was great company!

My perspective: A
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say
I’m still gliding as I go flying down this endless wave
