Billy Joel To Pen Children's Books

Singer/songwriter Billy Joel has signed a deal with Scholastic to pen two children's books. The first, "Goodnight My Angel: A Lullabye," will hit shelves in September. The picture book was inspired by "Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel)," which Joel wrote for his then seven-year-old daughter Alexa and released on his 1993 album "River of Dreams." It will feature illustrations by artist Yvonne Gilbert.

The second book, due in fall 2005, will be based on Joel's classic "New York State of Mind," from his 1976 album "Turnstiles."

He's definitely in my top ten list of stars that I have never wanted to be. He had a promising career, until (that horrible 80's period for many of groups) dare I sing?, "Uptown Giiiiiirrrrrrrrrl..." :o

I enjoy Billy Joel's music, and will at least check out his books from the library!
