I flew to Hawaii in January to see Jimmy in Oahu. He was playing, in Hawaii, on my 40th birthday . Try to explain to your friends and family why you will be 3500 miles away on your 40th. Especially, as they pointed out, when "you've seen that guy several times in the last year." I tried not to offend anyone (they were planning a big party), but I had to be honest and tell them there was no place else I would rather be. Looking forward to Dallas - 5 more days .

I have a friend who gets it and actually got me started. The parents didn't get it until 3 years ago, now it is all my mother looks forward to during the year. Dad thinks he is good with one concert a year, at least he semi gets it and attends, now if I could only do something about the Stroh's problem. When tailgating and people stop by, we offer the jellos shots or margaritas or coronas, dad chimes in with a stroh's to be funny. My youger brother gets it and is going with me to the today show. Co-workers don't get, they just think I am an insane crazy girl, which is fine with me.

Just wanted to say bout Gypsies intitial post to start this thread --- that was me that had posted that comment and it was in regards to the Denver Show Review under "News" on the main page ---

My co-workers are figuring it out --- But they still make little jokes bout "Dont p*** off the parrot!!!" (just last Friday to be exact) but I'm training them slowly but surely

Going to the Atlanta show day after tomorrow (well technically tomorrow at this time woooohoooo) --- I live in a townhouse so I've been building the "set-up" tiki Hut pavilion at their place (garage) and they just walk by as I'm chopping, sawing and slicing bamboo and just shake their heads (dont say a word -- they know better) and roll those eyes my mom's at least interested in why I'm so wrapped up in it and she often ask questions with sincerity ... I think I may be able to actually get them to go to a concert soon (although, I've already told my Dad he may get scared hahah he's a bit too stiff BUT tries) My ex-wife was a PH and now I'm training my twin 'keets and sing SonOfASon, Harbor, and Little Miss to them every night (good thing is they ask me too) and now they ask to play "Daddy's music" in the car (aka: we'll you know the stuff) which sure beats the hell out of that stuff from "that mouse in Orlando" that their grandparents got'em hooked on So THEY WILL GET IT -- as far as strangers go .... Some broker at Morgan Stanley last week was walking in to the branch as I pulled up with "School Boy Heart" blastin and my PH tag on the front of my car ... he walked in and made some joke about m'ville to the receptionist bout "M'ville ... can you believe that s***"... yeah buddy -- too bad the receptionist is a PH too !!! hahah WERE EVERYWHERE all I could tell her was --- if he thinks my tags in poor taste perhaps he should see me doing fins down the interstate ... yeah -- that scares people in the right hand lane when your passing !!!!!!!!

My daughter (4yo) and I were listening to Margaritaville....

She was doing her thing, and I was doing mine...both listening quietly..

when Jimmy got to "....looking for my lost shaker of salt" I hear my daughter at the top of her lungs from the other room... "Where's the salt, where's the salt!" Last time we were at the Margaritaville Cafe in Orlando she and I were the only ones in the place singing....earned both of us a free drink!

I can definitely relate to this one...

A coworker came in my office to ask about a problem we're having. Just so happens I've got the Dallas tailgate party plotted out on my whiteboard. He asked what it was so I had no choice right? As I showed him where I'd drawn the boats, the kiddie pools, the generator, the margarita machine, and the slip n slide, he just started laughing. He even asked me a few questions to see if I was making it all up. He really thought I was nuts when I told him people would be bringing more than that!

I think my boss gets it though, he's letting me borrow his boat trailer for the other boat!

And I KNOW my kids get it, but I'm still working on my wife!

My lil sis gets it, My two older sis's not so much they just humor
me I think the one would be alright with the music but she is
not in tune with the drinking (maybe the Mormon in her?)
Mom no but she does not say anything I think she knows
there are many things I could be "into" and they are all worse
and now that I have started to travel and meet up with pholks
I think she may have seen through the smokescreen and knows
the music is just background for the companionship and great
people. Dad he likes the music I mean two of his four kids
always have a tape or cd in and would be very intersting
at a tailgate as my Father never met a stranger, He talks to everyone
but also the Mormon in him would not like the drinking.
my coworkers? who cares. some are jealous I get to go to
cool places and meet up with pholks I type at but have never
sat next to. also my Dad observed " You guys are kind of like a secret
club, you have little sayings on stickers and plates, and shirts and all
and than you throw up the hand on head thing (finz up) and you
know the other is in your little club.

My wife does not get it... Not sure if I could stand taking her to another concert....

My daughter knows the words, because I play it so much, but does not get it... She's 14 and knows it all.

LOTS of our friends are really big fans too...

My boss gets it!!!
He set up 2 business trips to synch up with JB concerts in CA... Sept 03 we had row 10 tickets from a $$$ broker, per boss's orders (he was looking up tickets in a business mtg) Concert was cancelled when Jimmy's mom got ill and passed away.

In Jan 04, boss arranged another trip so we saw JB (and a big Hi to Amy) in San Jose... Boss even brought me margaritas all concert long... He told me later he had the bartender put triple tequila in em all... No wonder I hardly remember...

Now, that's a cool boss!

PS my boss's and my offices are at the hall intersection marked Margaritaville Way and Parrothead Parkway.

Sadly, some folks just can't help not getting it ...

Sadly... they grew older and up...
I hate days when I (briefly) feel like that... but a dose of Jimmy and I'm back to nermal.

It is kind of like they say about Jeep 4X4 Wranglers...
