Myrtle Beach question.............
I couldn't find anything about this on any previous posts.........but can anyone let me know when the Myrtle Beach location of Margaritaville will be opening? I am heading there June 25-28 and on margaritaville.com, it says it opens "early summer".....am I too early?
Also, any suggestions of must see's/must do's while in Myrtle Beach? It's my first visit.
Thanks!

Apparently, this is the site to watch for updates. It's a link from Margaritaville:
http://margaritaville.com/myrtlebeach.htm
Looks like it may not have been updated in a while though.
Perhaps a phone call to an existing M'ville Cafe might be helpful.
Enjoy your trip!

Re: Myrtle Beach question.............
My mom lives outside of MB and the latest rumor is that it will be finished sometime toward the middle or end of July. Figures, right about the time that I am sitting for the Bar Exam. Timing is awfulroxygal79 wrote:I couldn't find anything about this on any previous posts.........but can anyone let me know when the Myrtle Beach location of Margaritaville will be opening? I had emailed Broadway at the Beach...got a reply of mid-June....then someone else (here) said they heard mid-July.
I'm heading there next week...I'll let you guys know what progress has been made...and I'll try to ask around.
Must do: Pavillion...according to the local paper...the city is considering tearing it down and putting in shops (Saks and such) and hotels...might be the last time you get to see it...who knows?
Tiki Jims....sells Caribbean Soul merchandise!!!!! There is one at Broadway at the Beach and I think one at Barefoot Landing as well.

Tiki Jims is way too crowded and rarely has Buffett music on. If you go to Broadway try "Paradise" it's more Parrothead oriented.fruityparrothead wrote:Tiki Jims....sells Caribbean Soul merchandise!!!!! There is one at Broadway at the Beach and I think one at Barefoot Landing as well.
Not one shred of evidence exists in favor of the idea that life is serious...

Yes, Paradise is a great place, too. I usually visit the MB area at least 2 times a year...and I've never experienced the "crowded" situation at Tiki Jim's...but I suppose it depends on the time of year/day of the week/etc that you visit. Oh well...anyway...OH YEAH the Bowery is a definate must (in the Pavillion area)...so many places to see...it's a great place if you want to be entertained.frosted fins wrote: Tiki Jims is way too crowded and rarely has Buffett music on. You guys are great. I stumbled across this forum in answer to this very question. I had planned on going down to MB for the opening, but was having a heck of a time trying to get info on it.
I'll check back on here from time to time, and maybe give this thread a bump. Look forward to chatting with you.
P.S. - Love 'Tiki Jims,' but for four years straight I've made a point to get to 'Paradise' on every trip and pick up a little souvenir (usually a T-shirt). Glad to see so many kindred spirits!

Please don't send people here, we kinda like it how it is.Sidew13 wrote:keep in mind, Myrtle Beach is a busy beach town. It is geared towards a younger crowd and a little bit towards drinking (not as much as KW). If you looking for a more quiet and laid bach scean, try Atlantic Beach, NC. Very nice area.

I still prefer it over the total tourist trap atmosphere of Myrtle Beach but I know what you mean. At least we did have a decent nightclub (Ziggy's By the Sea) down there last year until the city fathers decided they wanted to bulldoze the Circle. They actually booked a lot of good bands there in the short time it existed such as Drivin' n' Cryin', Gov't Mule, Southern Culture on the Skids, and Burning Spear so I was sad to see it go. Now I hear they're going to build an outdoor movie theater there.Sidew13 wrote:Just a little TOO quiet for meJahfin wrote:Please don't send people here, we kinda like it how it is.Sidew13 wrote:keep in mind, Myrtle Beach is a busy beach town. Mid-JULY is the opening babe! Tried to get a job there...but failed (don't know why). Myrtle Beach is a great town..I love living here...but could do with the billions of tourists.
Sunset Beach is my Margaritaville. Where there is endless beach, no time, and sunshine that seems to last forever. I know that Someday I Will.....Someday.

Yeah, definately. The Carolinas are home to alot of Buffett fans. Have ya'll ever seen the South Carolina palm and moon on Buffett's hats and shirts? I have numerous times. I think the 3 strongholds where Buffett fans are is Florida - The Carolinas - and Cincinnati, Ohio. Other places too...of course, but I think those are the main areas of strong parrothead-ism.
