Ok I just spoke with my mom and she said that the gatorade is not donated directly, but we get donations (cash) to be used for drinks...so maybe hit up people for donations and then buy drinks...I would donate some money for them...I know you said its expensive to ship though.....gee I'm sorry I hope I didn't get your hopes up to much

PHAW Webmistress wrote:Thanks for all your suggestions everyone (almost).....Gatorade's "official" stance is they don't "donate" however they are offering coupons :-?
I'll see what I can do PHAW - no "connection", but as an American consumer. Here is my email...

http://www.gatorade.com/index.php?
(contact us on bottom page...)

I am witness to a plea to get Gatorade into the hands of our troops overseas, and I am very dissapointed in learning that Gatorade's stance is that they don't "donate".

What do you call the method of providing Gatorade to the sidelines of professional sports? I'm sure the athletes don't pay for it, and I'm sure the teams don't pay for it, and I'm sure the stadiums don't pay for it. If it's simply in the name of advertising, maybe Gatorade can do some "advertising" overseas.

Maybe if you can't "donate" to the troops, you can "sponsor" them. Maybe you can initiate a "click" campaign, where for every internet click you provide Gatorade to the troops. Maybe you can also provide another place for consumers to donate additional amounts to the cause. Maybe you can initiate a Hydrating Operation Freedom campaign, where 10% of all Gatorade sales between Memorial Day and Independence day is used to send Gatorade overseas. Maybe it will boost sales solely for the "feel good" of Americans trying to do their part and help any way they can. Maybe you can do all of the above?

Professional athletes work up a thirst playing games they get paid millions of dollars for... our military works up a thirst risking their lives to defend America. Who is in more dire need for flavorful fluids to boost endurance and moral? Who is in more dire need to REHYDRATE, REPLENISH, AND REFUEL?

Your website boasts Global Availability, including the Middle East. Please take this request to the Gatorade powers that be to consider doing whatever it takes to get that Gatorade in the hands of the men and women who are protecting our freedom to enjoy such simple pleasures.

Thank you.

Tiki I took your Idea and ran with it.
To the makers of Powerade I sent an e-mail
It has been brought to my attention that our troops
in the Gulf are having a hard time acessing the
hydration supplies they need, parents and friends of
the troops are sending much needed supplies at their
own cost. Is there a program for the Makers of Powerade to
"donate" some of the much needed supplies.
These guys and gals are working.fighting and dying
for what amounts to a very small paycheck
and their support systems IE: friends and family
don't have unlimited funds either. Any help would
be great and an opportunity to show up "the other guys"
as they have been conctacted and challenged also.
thank you for your time Wayne.
Not word for word as I'm not the CPU wizard some of you are
sorry. But I hope this helps.!!!!

PHAW, Can the troops use the powered form and add water??? If so, You may want to call Pepsi and see if they will donate All-Sport, (although powerade and gatorade should do the same). I worked at a high school in the athletic department and we got 2 boxes of 10 packages(each makes 3 gallons) at the beginning of each school year. Maybe a local high school has some they do not use that they would donate. You may even be able to get them to donate a cooler for it also.

I don't know if this helps, they may not be able to use the powder form. I will continue to think and see if I come up with anything.

Good Luck.

I sent mine to Gatorade, Quaker Oats, and PepsiCo... no response from any of them yet... but I'll keep trying.

I still think it's rediculous if Gatorade is available in the Middle East, they already have the distribution in place... :x
