I lifted this off Havana Dreamer's signature line. It's a phund-raiser phor his Parrothead Club. Dig this: you could win a bottle of Margaritaville tequila personally autographed to you by Mr. Jimmy Buffett! How cool is that! http://tropicalbits.com/phil/autograph.htm

My love is staying an anchor tied to you with that silver chain.

It's a donation to charity, not an investment. Most donations don't get you any return - this one you'll get a cool personalized bottle of Margaritaville Tequila to share in the Show and Tell thread.
You’re still grinning, we’re still winning, nothing left to say
I’m still gliding as I go flying down this endless wave

And I have a question - doesn't "silent auction" mean you don't get to see the other people's bids?
No, silent auction means you walk around the room (in an in person situation) and add your bid under the previous bid...live auction is when there is an auctioneer.
To Rick: I don't think anybody actually buys charity auction items becasue of their value...it is a nice way to donate to charity and get a little something in return.

Thanks for explaining
just let me know if there is anything else you need me to explain!
$200 for a cheap bottle of Tequlia. Not worth it if you ask me. I got the same bottle of Tequlia with a bottle of Margaritaville Margarita mix for 7 dollars.

So don't bid on it. You're missing the point, though. It's a charity fund-raiser, and it will be autographed to the winner by Jimmy himself. The "regular" bottle you buy at the liquor store has no signature, and gives to sense of adding some value to the world. Granted, the amount being bid is pretty hefty for a lot of us. I'm not bidding on it, but I'm trying to do my part by letting people know about it.
The PHC is raising money for charity, which is WHAT PHC'S DO, last time I checked.
