Start at the Atlantic end of Duval and have one drink in every bar on the way down to the Gulf end.

Not sure you can do that in 7 hours, but it would be a valiant effort.

Walk up to the corner of Caroline and Duval, rent one of those glorified golf carts (they actually go pretty fast!) Drive like a haint all over Key West Old Town seeing all the top spots. Turn the car in, go to Margaritaville and get several souvenirs and margaritas. Then go in Fast Buck Freddies and see all the great goodies, go in the very back to that tropical room! Then walk past Jimmy's Shrimpboat Sound studio on the wharf walk, go to Schooner Wharf Bar and get some margaritas there (one of the best margaritas anywhere). Sit there and watch the people and beautiful schooners and other boats. Wow.....I need a Key West trip!!! :P

Better check with the cruise line.... This Just in from the "Key West News"
Carnival Cruise Lines will stop port calls to the Southernmost City that require ships to be tendered offshore while the Outer Mole Pier is renovated.

But the good news is if your docking at Mallory you must be on one of the smaller boats (or not on Carnival)

Good Luck, other than that citcat'c plan looks pretty good

Here is a link to the ship I'll be on. We've not heard anything from them, where did you hear that from? I'm nervous now. I'd die if we didn't get to go. http://www.carnival.com/Ship_Detail.aspx?shipCode=FS

If Key West is on your port-of-call, you'll get in there somehow. I forgot one place: a Mexican restaurant with a picket fence-type front on Duval has Sangria with a secret ingredient. They won't tell what it is, but my group was guessing everything from ginger to paprika (I don't think it was paprika!) It was fantastic sangria, does anybody have a guess about the recipe? :P HEY! The Fascination....that's the ship we went on. They play a lot of Jimmy Buffett....and you get close enough to Cuba to see the hills. Secret clue: if you get really hot laying out on the deck, when the guy comes out with the giant ice block and starts chip-chipping away like crazy to sculpture some kind of bird, move your chair reeall close to him...those ice chips a-flying feel really good on a 90 degree day!!!! :D

Do I have time to do both the Conch Train and Trails of Margaritaville in the morning?

Here is a list of attractions and stuff in KW that I've been compiling for a few weeks. Out of these, which ones are "must sees" and which ones do I have time for in just 6 hours? There are even a few items that I just copied down the name and don't know anything about them, so descriptions would be appreciated. Keep in mind that alcohol consumption on this trip is off limits. I know, I know, it's out of my control. Can't disobey my GF's parents and church rules on this particular trip. I will make up for it in the future! 8)

The list........

Margaritaville
Hog's Breath
Captain Tony's Saloon
Trails of Margaritaville
Crabby Dick's
Louie's Backyard
Blue Heaven
Shrimp Boat Sound
The Green Parrot
Mile Marker 0
Key West Fabric Shop
Kinos
Fast Buck Freddie's
Conch Train
Sloppy Joe's

Well, you can put Crabby Dick's, Key West Fabric shop, Green Parrot, Kino's, Louie's Backyard at the bottom of the list in case you don't have time for them. Don't forget the Schooner Wharf Bar's margaritas....if you go past Shrimpboat Sound studio, it's only ten steps down the wharf, by the Tall Ships (the big pretty pirate-type schooners). Conch train tour is about two hours or less. Trails of Margaritaville is probably the same.

I don't want to make it any scarier, but we took a Carnival trip about 1&1/2 years
ago that had KW on the itenerary, and we did NOT get to stop there. It was a
Western Caribbean trip to Cozumel. (Didn't choose the trip. It was for business
purposes.) I was kind of relieved, since I knew there was no way to "do" KW
in that short a time. What YOU (and citcat) need is to plan is to attend MOTM!!!

Oh gosh I wish I could afford to go this year.....we just went to Key West in Feb. and the hubby doesn't wanna go twice in a year. HOWEVER, I'm saving money in a little secret place so we can FOR SURE go next year, and do it RIGHT!!! :D Hubby and friends will go and even stay at the more expensive Casa Marina so we won't miss absolutely anything! If we win the lottery, we're going this year! 8) I'm gonna be so jealous of Jill and you and everybody going to MOTM!!!

6 hours won't be enough time but here are some good spots:

Kelly's Caribbean Grill - Whitehead Street - good spot for lunch
Schooner's Wharf - great place to have a drink near the water
Captain Tony's - Greene Street - must see (bring a business card)

lesser known spots:
Shrimp Boat Sounds recording studio - at the end of Greene St near Schooner's Wharf

the Chart Room (inside the Pier House resort). tiny bar where the Pirate in Pirate looks at 40 tended bar)

Otherwise just walk up and down Duval Street. you will have no problem blowing 6 hours!
Sweet senorita won't you please come with me
Back to the island honey, back to the sea
Back to the only place that I want to be

For lunch, I would like some fresh seafood. My girlfriend doesn't eat seafood, so the place would need to also have other menu items such as burgers or something. I would like some fried oysters and shrimp if they're good. I am limited to something within walking distance of Mallory Square. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If your boat has to be moored they will have a tender boat bring you in. You can do KW in 6 hours. No, you won't get to do EVERYTHING, but it ain't that big so you could do a lot.....most any place that serves seafood also has non sea food items. But beware, it will be cooked in the same oil as the seafood, so it may have a slight fish taste  I know there is a website for the Trails of Margaritaville I don't know what it is though, but I am sure you can get their schedule there or email them and find out. They may also help you with the Conch Train stuff too! Anyway, have fun, I will be thinking of you down there while I am stuck here in RI!! Also if you walk by Sloppy Joe's or Hog's Breath make sure you wave to the webcams!!!!
Eat seafood? Use bait? Thank a commercial fisherman.
