has anyone else received their tickets from ticketmaster for the fenway park shows? mine came from ticketmaster and have no barcode, like normal tickets for red sox (and most other) events do, is this normal or do i need to call ticketmaster.

Ticketmaster tickets don't always have barcodes on them. (I believe) It is something that they started when some venues started to get the finger scanner thingies. Instead of ripping the ticket they just scan the barcode. Same end effect. Some places don't have the scanny things so they don't need the barcodes.

And then there was the Deer Creek nightmare from last summer's Buffett show. They printed about 5,000 tickets with no bar codes (mine included). Deer Creek (or Verizon) utilizes bar codes and scanners. So, what was the solution???
Funnel everyone without bar codes into one freaking line and put each ticket under a black light.
Yes, I would call Ticketmaster. It was a pain in the ass. Even if Fenway doesn't use the bar codes, you don't want to get in a similar situation as we did last summer.

Your tickets must be fake. I would demand new ones.......phansheridan wrote:has anyone else received their tickets from ticketmaster for the fenway park shows? mine came from ticketmaster and have no barcode, like normal tickets for red sox (and most other) events do, is this normal or do i need to call ticketmaster.
Just kidding mine don't either. I heard that Fenway's barcode system/scanner is not compatable with Ticketbastards so that's why.

TM and Red Sox use different bar code systems. The Sox have their own ticket system, and don't sell thru TM. This goes back to a dispute between them I think around 1982. Officially, the Sox won't "knowingly" sell directly to ticket scalpers.
Since Clear Channel are the people renting Fenway, it will probably be their people collecting tickets at the concert.
