yes, I've heard it and I love it. You just have to be careful of the company you play it in. I've looked for it on CD, I don't know if it is available.

His racial stuff is bad. I like some of his other material but the fact that he still makes this stuff available despite saying he no longer feels that way about blacks goes to show he still has his heart in the wrong place.

It's as simple as going to Google and typing in the keywords Jimmy Buffett Doesn't Live In Key West Anymore Lyrics although I did find these under the heading for "If That Ain't Country":

This song is for all the people thats been reviewing our records, in different magazines and things, and mentioning the fact that we sound a lot like Jimmy Buffett, because we live in Key West and we use congo drums in our songs. And for all those people that are under the misconception that Mr. Buffett lives in Key West, we'd like to say that theres a lot of things in Key West. As a matter of fact:

Theres sailboats,
and conch shells,
and palm trees galore,
but Jimmy Buffett doesn't live in Key West anymore.
Sisters ??? ??? has a bumper sticker on the door,
it says "Jimmy Buffett doesn't live in Key West anymore."

They smuggled ??? ??? songs,
snitching on the ???,
bringing heat,
where its already too damn hot to die.
Son of a son of a son of a b****,
is whats all that *****'s for.
Jimmy Buffett he don't live in Key West anymore.

Sailing to the Caribean,
Jimmy might well be.
Pictures up in Rolling Stone,
for all the world to see.
The rich keep getting richer,
the poor will just be poor.
But Jimmy Buffett doesn't live in Key West anymore.

Now Jimmy's moved to Malibu,
with all those other stars.
He's not down on ??? Street,
hanging out in bars.
All them goddamn tourists,
got to be a bore.
But Jimmy Buffett doesn't live in Key West anymore.

So don't tell me I sound like Jimmy Buffett,
just because I've got that island beat.
Jimmy might have grown up on the ocean,
me I kind of grown up on the streets.
Music's just a way of life,
to me I'm living free.
So don't play all that Key West Jimmy Buffett s*** on me.

Now divers do it deeper,
must of really made them mad.
Some of them reviewers said,
it really sounded bad.
Well, they liked Margaritaville.
Me, I liked it too.
Someday, Jimmy,
why dont we just both get drunk and screw?

Them creepy motherfuckers,
that think music is a whore,
tell 'em that you just don't live in Key West anymore.

Theres sailboats,
and conch shells,
and palm trees galore.
But Jimmy Buffett, he don't live in Key West anymore.
Sisters ??? ??? has a bumper sticker on the door,
Jimmy Buffett, he don't live in Key West anymore.

Alright boys, sound like Jimmy Buffett now!

Bad doesn't begin to describe that cd. And it's not just against blacks, but just the whole negitive attitude. I use to like DAC, but now, no way.

He's hating on Buffett and he's a racist? Definitely not someone whose music is worth seeking out to me.

I obviously don't agree with his racist views (which he apparently doesn't hold anymore) but if I remember correctly, this song stems from Buffett being unhappy with DAC's tune "Divers Do It Deeper" (which is mentioned in "Jimmy Buffett Doesn't Live In Key West Anymore"), saying it was an act of plagarism.

DAC

Post by Goodman »

I'm a little confused about DAC. On the one hand Steve Goodman was apparently thrilled that DAC covered "You Never Even Call Me By My Name". I just don't think Coe was smart enough to realize the song was a satiric paean to country music. Seems to me that "Divers" was a JB ripoff.

Coe reminds me of an oldtime wrestler- name escapes me but I think he was in Stallone's "Paradise Alley".

Bottom line- I'd vote no and veto Coe.

back in the 70's he had the SFC (for short and because I get tired of the *&'s) and to become a member you had to have sex with DAC. There was always quite a few MEN and women walking around with the special tshirt that was awarded you once you completed your initiation. Saw the shirts personally.....

That's why I never heard of it - it happened before I was born :D. As for the guys wearing the shirts, I would guess that they were not "official" members...especially if the story is true about him killing a man in prison for making "unwelcome advances".
