Coconut Pete = Jimmy Buffett??
How many of you have seen "Club Dread?" If not, you definately have to go rent it just because of the closeness to our great leader, Mr. Buffett. I recently saw the movie and I couldn't believe how one of the main characters resembles (to some point) Jimmy. His name is Coconut Pete and he is a tropical singer that owns an island where spring breakers go to party. In the movie, he claims to have written his song, Pina-Coladaburg before Buffett wrote Margaritaville...leading to the assumption that Buffett took Coconut Pete's idea.
There is a campfire scene in which Coconut Pete is playing "unplugged" and some chick yells out "Play Margaritaville"..."Play Margaritaville". Pete gets angry at her and that is where he mentions writting PCB before Jimmy wrote MV. He then goes on to cuss Jimmy Buffett out by ad-libbing to "Son Of A Son Of A Sailor."
It is an interesting movie full of bad acting and great nudity...you should all go see it simply because of the Buffett like atmosphere.

Sunset Beach is my Margaritaville. Where there is endless beach, no time, and sunshine that seems to last forever. I know that Someday I Will.....Someday.

Oop..sorry about that! You know, with all these posts it is hard to see if someone wrote the same thing. I guess we do all think alike don't we??

With the video out, it's topical (and tropical) again. I just thought I'd dig up the past, but don't let it stifle the future!
I still haven't seen it regretfully... considered buying it, wanted to rent it Memorial Day weekend but didn't, think I'll rent it tomorrow!

I liked the movie, but despite the island atmosphere and Buffett-esque main character it still wasn't as funny as Super Troopers. However, I did love the part when the girl asked Coconut Pete to play "Margaritaville."

Rented Club Dread last night. Holy horrible acting batman. But I tell ya...the worse the acting, the funnier the movie. The two stoners were hilarious! They'll remind ALL of you of a couple of friends you've had somewhere in life. It's pretty darn funny.....bloody, but funny. (sorry 'bout the language)
