I was watching GAC videos. And a band called The Great Divide has a new song called Pour Me A Vacation. Jimmy is mentioned in it along with Margaritaville.
Pour Me A Vacation
McClure
CHORUS
Barmaid play me some Buffett, I’m in a mood to get away
So pour me a vacation, I need to leave here right away
I gotta get down by the ocean, if it’s only in my mind
Take me out to paradise, if only for tonight, I can leave it all behind
It’s Friday night here in the big town, this old routine it starts to bore
Same old lines, and songs, and stories that I heard the week before
I wanna hear about the islands, about pirates and rum
Don’t wanna think about to tomorrow, not until tomorrow comes
So
CHORUS
It’s up to you barmaid to save me, put me on my coastal trail
Well I’ve been land locked here for so long, well it’s high time that I set sail
You know I can’t afford the airfare so put umbrellas in my drink
And I’ll waste away in Margaritaville, and pray this boat don’t sink
So
CHORUS
Take me out to paradise, if only for tonight, I can leave it all behind

If you catch Garratt Wilkins and the Parrotheads live, the guitarist plays that right before garratt comes on...a dang good job I might add...

I don't think there is a band called The Great Divide anymore.
Mike McClure went solo acoustic for a while and now is with a band. He is really good and I enjoy his shows with Larry Joe Taylor. He and Larry Joe played with Keith Sykes at couple months ago here in our little podunk town and they did a great show.
For info.

They're still a band. In fact, they're still touring.

But you are correct about their front man leaving. From the band's bio...
"The Great Divide's original front man left the band in early 2003. By late summer the band was back on the road with new lead singer and lead guitarist, Micah Aills."

Great! I didn't realize that. I'll have to see what they sound like now.

Bill's Records and Tapes in Dallas has free shows on Fridays - they even have free beer samples brought in by a local restaurant/brewery. Mike McClure and LJT were there a couple of months ago and they did a one hour acoustic set. Really good stuff and I hope they do it again!

That must have been when they were doing their radio promo tour for LJT Music Festival.
Did they do a song about Monkey River? I think Keith Sykes mentioned something about Monkey River Town Girl???
Mike McClure, Larry Joe Taylor and Keith Sykes did a great job with that song, whatever it was. It was a hoot.

Yeah, it was a week before LJT's annual festival. I don't remember a song about Monkey River, but I've slept since then. I'd blame it on the beer but it was during lunch and I actually went back to work that day!

Never heard the song before, I don't think, but I love the title!
Hey Four Play, Mike McClure plays Paris all the time. You and Mrs. Play should come on over sometime.
