When we were at Margaritaville in Orlando, they were playing the Jamaica Mistaka video. Our server was talking to us and I ask her if she knew where the bullet holes were on the Hemisphere Dancer. She looked at me with the clueless look on her face and said, "there is a freezer upstairs with bullet holes in it, but I don't know anything about the plane".
Excuse me, the video was playing, she works at Margaritaville and she knows nothing about the incident?

Maybe there should be a Buffett trivia test in order to get one of those jobs
At least, when I did go to the Lone Palm bar and ask, the server laughed and showed me where the plane had been patched :D

A big difference actually. Jimmy's catalogue is a little bigger.. and certainly a lot less saccharine. :D

I've got a couple of Margaritaville Orlando stories about clueless employees.

I was there about three years ago. Since that time, the Radio Margaritaville studios have moved, but at the time, they were located at Universal. I asked my waiter exactly where the Radio Margaritaville studios were. He replied that he didn't think that they were located there. He said that he was under the impression that it was based in Key West. He went on to tell me that he knew the guy who was in charge of Radio Margaritaville (I'm assuming he was talking about Steve) because he came in there all the time to eat. I started to say, "So he drives nearly 400 miles up here from Key West to eat on a regular basis?" but I bit my tounge and just shook my head.

Then, this past November on the night when Jimmy and Alan Jackson opened the awards show on CBS with 5:00 Somewhere and the night that 5:00 Somewhere won the award, my mom had to be in Orlando on business. She purposely went to Margaritaville thinking that she could see the awards show on the TV screens and enjoy it with many other parrotheads! But, 8:00 rolled around, and they never switched the TV's to it. She said that they kept playing the same video that they always play (Don't get me wrong; it's a great video that I love watching). She called me at about 8:30 wanting to know what happened, and I was on cloud nine because Jimmy and Alan had won. She said, "I didn't even get to see it; they didn't show it at Margaritaville!" I told her not to worry because I had it taped, and she could see it as soon as she got home. But, she was understandably upset and dumbfounded. It made me wonder if the employees at Margaritaville even knew that their boss was on national television and winning his first ever award.

K. That just means that Marinell is having some effect.. :D

When the little blonde tornado joined the staff, she was told she had one of the highest test scores on the trivia portion of the exam. So, there is a test. It just is not quite as hard as a real Parrothead test. More like a "so, you own the Yellow Album, and you want to work at M'ville, you should do better on this than a Kenny Chesney fan would.." kinda thing. But still, you should be able to ace the thing before they give you a swipe card and tell you about the volcano mixer.. :D

As a side note, for those in the Myrtle Beach area (or planning on visiting), the little blonde tornado is training the staff up there, so maybe the PH factor will be more than 12... *
