Tailgating Preparations
The big show at Alpine is less than 2 weeks away! I'm racking my brains to make sure everything is ready and accounted for...
How do you all get ready for the day of show and make sure you don't forget anything?

How do you all get ready for the day of show and make sure you don't forget anything?
When life hands you limes..make Margaritas!!

Well we have season tickets at Chicagoland speedway (NASCAR and Indy races and stuff like that) and here is stuff to remember if you are gonna tailgate all day like we do (the tailgating supplies for both are the same for us; we bring about as much booze to NASCAR as anybody would ever bring to Buffett):
*Food
*More Food
*Booze
*Chairs (and bring extras for guests)
*Music
*A table to set up all of the food
*Paper Plates, napkins, cups
*Coolers
*Ice
*Grill, with charcoal, lighter fluid, tongs
*Instant shelter tents
*Sunscreen
Anything I am forgetting? Oh yea, more food
The reason I am emphasizing food is because by filling up before you go in you will avoid paying $10 for a measly hot dog

Sounds like you need to start a Buffett pile! It's really pretty simple - just clear out some space and start piling stuff up. Put it somewhere obvious, like your living room. Anytime you think of something that's missing, go get it and throw it in the pile. You'll get the hang of it pretty quick I bet.

Good point. You can buy a 30 gallon plastic trash can for about $8. Assuming you've got room for it, you can fill it up with other tailgating items for easier transportation to the show. Makes it a lot easier to keep your area clean too.Cuervo wrote:Two words.... trash bags
I've found 20 or so hardcore drinking and eating machines can create a lot of trash.
plus others will want to bum some too.....

I usually let someone else handle those details, that works really well for me...
But this is the non-obvious stuff that's improved our day:
1. Wet-naps
2. Washcloths (might not be that important "way up nort"), but if it's 800 degrees out, they're great to toss in the cooler to cool you off.
3. Scissors
4. Rope or twist ties (used for decorations and to jerry rig my blown out flip flop)
5. Duct tape (just because you should never leave home without it...)
6. Toilet paper.
Also, an extra pair of shoes (per person), and extra clothes never hurt.
And am I the only one that's thinking the Arby's clear plastic cups would be great to tailgate with (or take places where they'll let you bring mixed drinks)?

Amen. Too many people just leaves mounds of trash in the parking lot at the end of the night.Cuervo wrote:Two words.... trash bags

I thought those were only required at shows in the South. You mean I've got to bring all that with me on the airplane?PHBeerman wrote: I think you have forgot a couple NASCAR essentials.

Worst case scenario, you'll just end up paying more from margaritas as people are walking away from the counter. It's not so bad because it cuts down on the wait time too.land_shark3 wrote:Four Play, I don't know anyone who has done that, do you?buffettbride wrote:Your drivers license/ID...I've had several friends leave them in their wallets in their cars and then didn't have ID for the rest of the night. Being a Southerner, I'm a little slow when it comes to reading (and other things). I thought your sentance was going to end saying that your bottle opener was permanently attached to your hand.big hat carmen wrote:Bottle opener, of course mine is permanently attached to the tailgate of my van.![]()
Down here we just use rings, table tops, lighters, etc.....

They started at $15. The closer we got the more expensive they were. I think someone was asking $30 by the time we could see the alcohol table. Why would any venue have ONE alcohol stand for EVERYONE that was on the floor?!?!?Four Play wrote:Worst case scenario, you'll just end up paying more from margaritas as people are walking away from the counter. well we have a tailgating trailor that has all the essentials loaded for ballgames, Buffett, etc. We keep tents, chairs, grill, generator, fans( for hot weather), stereo, decorations, flagpoals. Food and drink are added day of. If you tailgate a lot it is a good investment.
As far as not forgetting... Stick a list on the fridge and add to it when you think of something...works for me.
The tailgate is as much fun as the show....
