Vacation next week

Post by longlinergirl »

Hi all! As you may know I live in RI. My hubby has an unexpected week off next week so we were trying to decide where to go. We will be driving and are looking for any ideas.....obviously there is Newport, Block Island, etc...but we want to do something a little different. We were thinking Niagra Falls or Hershey, PA, but I am on a diet so that would make Hershey no fun and besides they are both like 12 hour drives from here. Anyway, if you have any ideas PLEASE let me know. We want to have some fun..oh and by the way we have a 16 month old so nothing he can't be included in!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!
Eat seafood? Use bait? Thank a commercial fisherman.

How about the Southern Maine coastline. There are some nice beaches, sights, parks and it's only a couple Hrs from you.

I'll state the obvious...
How about starting in VA ... then head up for a couple days in Indiana, and wrap it all up in Alpine!
We have the week off too... this is the plan I'm trying to convince my saner half of

The thought of a 12 hour drive makes some of us shudder, but please don't write off Hershey because of a diet. There are many enjoyable activities in town and around that part of PA that have nothing to do with eating.

The Hershey theme park is one of my favorites on the east coast, and it includes some other attractions besides rides and cotton candy. There is a water show, a wild animal park, musical revues, a tour of Hershey's chocolate museum and delightful accommodations with golf, tennis, swimming, etc. It's a short drive from there to historic Gettysburg, and an even shorter drive to Lancaster, in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country.

Maybe you could fly in to nearby Harrisburg Airport and shave 60% off your travel time.

Whatever your destination, good luck and have a great time. I hope it's a great vacation.

How about Montreal and/or Quebec city? Lots to see and do. You can get to almost everything in Montreal by subway. Don't forget the great exchange rate.

Maybe Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Take one of the ferries on the Maine coast. Beautiful coastline. Great people. Very reasonable accomodations.

Wow thanks for all the ideas....but now he has to go to work on Tuesday so it looks like a weekend in either Newport or possibly Martha's Vineyard...not too bad though both are great places. Thanks again for the ideas though as he will have time off in the future and we could use those ideas!!!
