Just bought the new cd at midnight tonight at Wal Mart for $9.99 Pretty good price and pretty good album. I am glad I decided not to form an opinion until I heard the whole cd! In a way it is the same Buffett that we have all come to loved!

Great CD! Just bought it at walmart* for 9.84. All the songs are awesome except...Simply complicated(aka math sux) and Someone I used to Love. Everything else is great. Scarlet Begonias cover is nasty! Duet with martina mcbride is going to be underrated i can see it now. All the diet should be released all of them can be crossover hits....Whats with the FBI warning on the back? Im afraid to upload it onto my laptop.

I really dig it

Post by KeyboardKev »

I really liked the album. I'd name it as my favorite since Barometer Soup. Scarlet Begonias friggin RULED! And the duets don't seem forced, and the dual electric guitar sound of Sonny Landreth and Will Kimbrough really roughened up the sound. Lots of energy!

I don't like Bubba's self-serving "My life is so great" songs. There's a few of them on here, of course, and they're not my favorites, like Simply Complicated. Playin' the Loser again is a great weepy country blues song. The album sounds fresh, like Jimmy was excited to be making it!

One question/complaint - how's come the songwriting credits were'nt given on the songs? Anyone know who wrote what? Thanks!

Must be nice.. I was at Walmart last night at 12:00am and they "COULDN'T FIND THE NEW RELEASES".
I was quite ticked off... so I went home, downloaded the cd, listened to it, went to sleep, then woke up and bought the cd.
I think that the cd is really good, too. Lots of great songs... I really like Piece of Work and AAA.

Don't mind that... the first thing I did when I got home was rip to mp3 and make a backup copy of it.
You are allowed to make a backup copy, and putting it on your laptop would be considered fair use. Making the mp3 is not prohibited, rather, sharing them is.

(But I don't care... they can sue my @$$ for all I care.)

Bought 3 copies of License to Chill at Meijer's for $9.88 each. Been listening all afternoon and have to rate it one of Jimmy's best ever! I'll go on to predict that this one will win CMA Event of the Year. Every song is top notch! Great mix of sounds! I particularily like "Boats to Build" duet with AJ, Scarlet Begonias, Simply Complicated, Coast of Carolina, and Back To The Island.

my favorite line:

I'm just glad people are finally hearing it and realizing that it's still the Jimmy we know and love, just a little twangier

4 1/2 fins up!

An utterly amazing album. It's a nice change of pace to see all those duets -- even though at first I was skeptical. They're really well done, though, and Jimmy and his buddies really make the songs their own.

The interesting part of all this is that a lot of people will be paying some actual attention to Jimmy's music for the first time. And if they like what they hear, they're bound to explore the back catalog. Methinks we're going to have to make room for a boat-load of new converts!

I give License to Chill 4 1/2 fins up!

The New Album

Post by parrothead99 »

I have to admit, I was not looking forward to this album, only because I am not a country music fan. I had heard that Jimmy had gone with a different sound on this album, and when I got it home I was floored. With the exception of a few songs, I think this is a much better album than Far Side of the World. I was afraid the island sound would be gone and I am ecstatic that it is still there for most of this cd. I love Building Boats, Simply Complicated and Scarlet Begonias is the best !!!! I really love that he ended the album with Back to the Island, it sounds awesome and I think it really reflects his struggle with his music as of late. I for one am glad he did not stray too far from the islands and can't wait to listen to this cd over and over.

I think I've got a touch of Island Fever

I absolutely love the album. I bought two copies of the album, one for my car and one for my home stereo. The car copy always tends to see a lot more play time than my home copy. Thanks for a great album Jimmy.

I spent the last several months worrying and hoping that LTC wouldn’t disappoint. I mean, after all, it is definitely time to build on the Five O’clock Somewhere phenon. If this new cd ended up sounding lame or inferior, an incredible opportunity would have been squandered. I must admit that seeing all the people who had decided they weren’t going to like it (although they hadn’t even heard it yet) had me concerned. Now I must say to myself, “Oh ye of little faith!”
This cd is EXCELLENT. Simply Complicated and Scarlet Begonias, will have to grow on me a little, but even that’s starting to take root. If they don’t follow up Hey Good Looking with either Coast of Carolina or Boats to build...or LTC....or...Heck there’s too many great cuts...I can’t even make up my mind! I got my copy yesterday, and I will already be performing BTB and LTC in my live show tonight. Way to go Jimmy!
...Keepin' it Jimmy!!!

I've got the same question.......Jimmy didn't think it was important to give due credit to the folks who wrote this stuff????
Some people never find it
Some... only pretend, but me...
