I couldn't agree more. I LOVE it. The reference he makes to Come Monday in the song is magic. :D

Did anyone get a chance to read Key lime's review of LTC... Very good BTW......

I also love Coast of Carolina. It's like Jimmy has come full circle. I believe the songs references were intentional, like a follow up to Come Monday.. A Thanks to Jane for putting up with him for so many years......

A fitting tribute!!!!!!!!!! :D :D

I thaught I remember Jimmy saying at Tampa that Roger Guth and Peter Mayer wrote this. Could be wrong. Excellent song nonetheless, and will be worth the price alone.

First time I heard it was at the Today Show rehearsal. I knew right away that I made the right decision to stay up all night and stay for the concert. It is a wonderful, wonderful song.

But I'm having a little trouble knowing what it's about - when I first heard the lyrics, I thought it was definitely for Jane (come a lot of Mondays since the phonebooth that first night; also, references to one or two false starts...)
But then there's the reference to Groovy in the beginning, adn also the whole "coast of carolina" -- wasn't that where Groovy died last year in a plane crash? And also at one of the recent concerts, after he played it he said, "That was for you, Groovy".

Can someone help me sort it out?! Thanks!

From the queen of lyrics after the Today Show...
conched wrote:Don't know if there were heard correctly...but they are special.

Little roadside restaurant we artfully complain
Groovy tells the waitress that his chicken died in vain
Most every day goes by according to design
I live this dream and still it seems I have you on my mind

From the bottom of my heart
Off the coast of Carolina
AFter one or two false starts
I believe we found our stride
And the walls that won't come down
We can decorate or climb
Or find some way to get around
Cause I'm still on your side
From the bottom of my heart.

I can't see the future
But I know it's coming fast
It's not that hard to wind up knee-deep in the past
There come alot of Mondays
Since that phone booth that first night
Tears and miles and years and smiles
I wanna get it right.

Chorus

Music Interlude

These days I get up about the time I used to go to bed
Living large was once the deal
Now I watch the stars instead
They're timeless and predictable
Unlike most things that I do
I tell the wind and my old friend
I'm headed home to you

Chorus
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend

I couldn't agree more...I LOVE this song. I was so glad he played it at Blossom the other day after I first heard it on the Today show.

COAST OF CAROLINA

Little roadside restaurant we artfully complain
Groovy tells the waitress that his chicken died in vain
Most every day goes by according to design
I live this dream and still it seems I have you on my mind

[Chorus:]
From the bottom of my heart
Off the coast of Carolina
AFter one or two false starts
I believe we found our stride
And the walls that won't come down
We can decorate or climb
Or find some way to get around
Cause I'm still on your side
From the bottom of my heart.

I can't see the future
But I know it's coming fast
It's not that hard to wind up knee-deep in the past
There come alot of Mondays
Since that phone booth that first night
Tears and miles and years and smiles
I wanna get it right.

[Chorus]

[Music Bridge]

These days I get up about the time I used to go to bed
Living large was once the deal
Now I watch the stars instead
They're timeless and predictable
Unlike most things that I do
I tell the wind and my old friend
I'm headed home to you.

I wasn't sure about LTC, but after he did it at Blossom, I just looked at my friend and said "That song makes it worth the price of the CD!"

And after Boats to Build last night, I'm so excited about LTC!! So there might be a song or two I don't like- oh well, I'm not the only fan out there!

At Nissan, Latda and I were betting on if this song will be the one that we keep hearing for several years to come or not. We both think it will be around. Jimmy seems to really enjoy singing it as well.

I really liked Coast of Carolina first time I heard it (Charlotte show, natch) and I think it'll be my fave tune from the album. Don't really like the title track (with or without Chesney)--not sure why, just don't. SB is starting to grow on me too, but CoC will be tough to top.

I agree, CoC is a great song reminiscent of "Come Monday." I first heard it at the Columbia, SC, show in April. It is definitely about Jane (even though she is from Columbia, about two hours from the "coast" of Carolina!).
