Putdown of Jimmy by kenny"wannabe buffett"chesney

Post by dion weaver »

Last week on the CMT segment Friday night that talked about and interviewed Jimmy. Kenny chesney said it was "kinda cool" in a condescending sarcastic cocky way to work with Buffett. I watched it a few times and it became apparent that this way the case. I have also noticed the past few times like the Today show and three other times that buffett mentions everyone like toby keith, jackson, etc. and conspicuously leaves chesney out. I wonder why? I bet that jimmy finally figured out, albeit too late since he is still on the album, that kenny is nothing but a poser, not in the same class as strait, jackson, etc. and kenny knows that is what jimmy now really thinks about him. As a result, Jimmy is subtlely distancing himself from "little kenny" But Jimmy is smart enough to not say anything bad about "cute little kenny" so as to not dissapoint the young girls who fall for the chesney "BS". That past few sentences are my opinion. However it is a fact, not my opinion, that the past four interviews buffett mentions everyone except the " great " kenny chesney. Definitely more than a coincidence. Way to go Jimmy! At least it is better late than never. On a lighter note (my opinion) " Coast of Carolina " is one of the best songs Jimmy has ever done. That song alone is worth the price of the CD.

I think JB is a little miffed at Kenny because of the timing of his release of "When the Sun Goes Down" with Uncle Kracker ... right when the LTC song was being put on the SI cd. Basically killed any shot of LTC getting airtime.

This is what I have been saying ever since the album's songlist was first shown. HGL is going to push the album sales in the new listener category (read that "goat-ropers who have only heard of Buffett as, 'that guy whut sung wif Alan Jackson on thet Clock song' ") and folks can flame the heck out of me, but "Scarlet Begonias" is not as good a song to cover as "Uncle John's Band", but it is a bit of a departure.

I think "Coast of Carolina" and "Boats to Build" are the two songs that make this album worth getting, altho I am reserving judgement on the two duets with Nanci Griffith and Martina McBride until I hear them. It is kinda sad, because most of Far Side of the World was good right out of the chute, only a couple songs on that album haven't either struck me right off or grown on me.

I doubt theres any bad feelings on either side. This is all message board BS. Jimmy is a God and Kenny is an awesome country singer. I saw the piece on CMT and did not get a negative vibe.

I don't sense any bad feelings here...kenny was actually one of the artists featured on mondays radio special spotlighting the LTC album. Kenny and Alan Jackson were the only two guests featured and I don't believe he would have been one of the guests of there was any animosity there.

Whole lotta speculation there... I'm sure it's not nearly that complicated.

You're reading way too much into it, and I think you have way too much time on your hads to come up with that.
