First Buffett Concert???
I'm a newbie to BN and read a great post today...about what was my first Buffett concert. A good question...
Mine was in a side of the road bar in the Florida Keys on a spring break adventure in 1974, the name of which escapes me....
We were headed down to Fort Lauderdale for spring break which was the place to go back in the day for east coast college kids trying to stay out of Viet Nam. Got to Lauderdale, got overserved and a little crazy and decided to get out of town and continue the trek south. We had heard of a great campground somewhere I can't remember 30 years later that was "herbal medicine" friendly, so to speak.
Well, along the way, we passed by this road side bar at sunset on our way to the campground with a sign out front that said "Live Music Tonight". It looked like a good spot to quench our thrist and munchie cravings so once we pitched the tents, we headed back figuring we would, at minimum, score some food and who knows what else.
A friend on the trip had brought this 8 track of the White Sport Coat album which we had listened to all the way down from Pennslyvania along with a bunch of other music including my favorite at the time, POCO (Remember those guys?)...we were ready for some florida party time!
Anyway, up on the stage that night was this long hair guy with a guitar named Jimmy Buffett along with some friends. Yep, the same guy on the cover of the 8 track that was in the back seat of my VW bug somewhere...
It was a night to remember even though I don't remember much of the details... the result of either old age or missing brain cells burned away that night, not sure which!!
So, what was your first Buffett show?

My first Jimmy Buffett concert was in October of 1987 at the Waikiki Shell in Honolulu, Hawaii.
I bought four lawn tickets for $15.00 apiece (because I was too CHEAP to spend $25.00 apiece for pavillion tickets). I bought them at the venue TWO WEEKS before the concert. There were plenty of seats available in all areas, but Mr. Cheapskate here chose the lawn.

Bonnie Riatt was the opening act.
Second song, my buddy put up a hand for a Hi five "Billy, this is f***ing awsome" I swung and missed and clocked my girlfriend in the eye. By the end of the show, it was completely closed and the first aid room had to help rmove her contact lense

Charleston, South Carolina..
The first time I paid money and went in somewhere was 1975.
At The Citadel...The Military College of Charleston...
I think it was like $5 or $6 to get in...It must have been late Spring , early summer..A bunch of cadets were there..gottheir girlfriends drunk and left early so there was lots of room..He played for hours that night and it was magical!
Mark Clark Hall, on the campus.....
Mornin y'all...

This is a little fuzzy....
My first show was in the Fall of 1987. My boss & his wife took me and my wife. It was at Irvine Meadows, a rocking venue.
Now, 110 shows later (including Maui, Anaheim, Vegas Margaritaville opening & Ft. Lauderdale all so far this year), I am still going. Now divorced, but marrying another Parrothead next April. My children have attended around 8 shows each.
The FINS BUS license plated tour bus is now my vehicle of choice for the local area shows with my PIRET40 convertible in tow. Some things change, some things stay the same.
What great years....
