Mallory -- I didnt take it that way at all... as in Moms are better than Dads - No Sweat
I feel for what you've had to experience over the years

~ I cant imagine... I was one of the few (these days) who grew up with both parents and never had a divorce stricken family
And I also cannot imagine a parent (Be it mom or dad) not wanting to be there for their child... it blows my mind - just dont get it
Sorry, you've had to go through all that as well... at least you can give back to your child something better than what you had to go through

Thanks HSV. My life growing up wasn't really that bad. It was just dad-less. It actually helped out in the long run when I became a single parent because I had no doubt in my mind I could raise my child on my own. I s'pose it all happened for a reason.

It's about choice and free will. It's not about making us all fit into one cookie-cutter role.
I'll even agree that the fact that our economy has become a two-income economy has been as bad for women and families as the old gender-role stereotypes. But just because these chicas don't like how far the pendulum swung in one direction doesn't mean we should send it hurtling back in the other...it's about balance...choice...freedom...
An the worst part about the religious junk is that it's based on the transcript of a speech, and it's common rhetoric to address the power holders first- in other words, women should obey their husbands, since they controlled whether he had food to eat or clothes to wear, and therefore, she really didn't have to respect him at all- these were ancient times, they didn't have premade clothes in stores, your clothes came in the form of sheep! (Oddly enough, that was brought to my attention by a seminary student)
And I truly believe that if one parent wants to stay home, that's fine- whether that parent is mom or dad. I can't imagine being stuck in a time when my only option was to stay at home with the kids.

Between hubby and me, it would be hubby that stayed home. I could stay home for about 6 months to a year and then be ready to go back to work. Matt (my Matt) could do it forever and not miss a beat.
