Pacific Northwest (Oregon) Chapter of the FM campaign reporting in!

I have proudly liberated many BUT still have 30+ without greencards ($1.00 bill) needing adoption. Truthfully, I don't mind having these, I can give them away to my PH club, but I do encourage everyone reading this to LIBERATE these CD's out of your local DollarTree Store. So humiliating to Mac!!

Beach Blonde....as I have, so far, only been able to find WOM here, I may be sending you Green Cards for the others. I still need to finish my research (the other 5 stores), and I'll let ya know!

Capt. P ~~ Sounds GREAT to me. I know that "possibly" I am taking this too seriously... BUT, if these CD's weren't as good/terrific as they are, I wouldn't really bother.

Besides, Mac deserves this from us... it's our gift back to him for the gift of music that he has given to us!

As the old saying goes... "If I have to explain, You wouldn't understand."

I keep my stash hidden.

Hey Beach Blonde, thanks for the tip. We just had to run out to our brand-new Dollar Tree here in Tifton, Georgia, but couldn't find a music dept. Then, low and behold, at the check-out line, there in a stack of CDs was a Mac Macanally, the same one you posted here, "Word of Mouth," from 1999. I was all "woo-hoo, that's what we came here for!" The guy in front of us said, "who's Mac Macanally?"

Jimmy Buffett sings guest vocals on one of the songs, along with most of the Coral Reefer Band... The song is called the "A$$ and the Hole" as in people don't know the difference between. It's a really twangy country JB, and some of the last cuts are jazzy. My favorite is the Pop Top Hop, about the dance you do after stepping on a poptop, what a recurring theme!

I would say, skip the "Things to do today," very uninspired. "My things to do today list looks just about the same as the list from yesterday." Blah, blah, blah boy, shows you can sing a song about anything. But, hey FINGERS TAYLOR! plays harmonica on that song, so it's not all bad... especially the harmonic opening before Mac keeps repeating that line about the list.

Congrats to you, CarolinaGirl!! You are so welcome..... And How cool... Continue to scope out your local dollar stores and you will find all three of them, I promise.

And again, for all that is reading this... Help us to FREE MAC!!

This very same man is the reason why JB's newest CD is #one!!!

Across America we are doing what we can to "liberate" these CD's into good homes. I know that we kinda make a "silly" out of it, BUT, the music and the man, should NOT be in dollartree bins.

And as your story suggested, "don't give up.... the CD's are there... and don't trust the word of the clerk.... they won't generally know they even have them." WE are seeing this same story throughout America.

Hey, it's not the biggest crusade any of us could be on, but at the very least it is our way of honoring a man who has brought us so much joy with his music.

I know that Jimmy must pay him well to be a Coral Reefer, but I hope that he even gets on the bandwagon to FREE these cd's !!

The music is wonderful and it will take you back to early buffett.... and all you have to do is treasure hunt and give up a buck.

JOIN the crusade to FREE MAC!!

Tiki,

I take off my hat to you!!! You have done all you could to liberate Mac!! All we are asking is for everyone to do their part and try to liberate these CD's. To get them out of the dollar bins.

I can't imagine that Mac has much to say about this.... How do liguidators work? And how did The DollarTree get these, I don't know.

Anyone?

Liquidators often sell boxes (cases, bins, etc) of mixed CD titles, so you get a little of everything. not sure how the liquidator *buys* them, though...

Typically, after a certain run of time, the publisher of the CD will deplete their inventory. If they have a lot left over, to cut their loss, they'll sell the whole batch to a discount wholesaler. That wholesaler will then turn and sell it to the discount stores such as Dollar Tree. At this point, the FREE MAC campaign buys them all for $1.00, and sells them to other fans.
